Description
For a few years now, users with high-end graphics hardware have been able to enjoy the benefits of lighting and shadows in all of its per-pixel glory. They've been able to see a variety of visual improvements with regards to lighting as a whole; such as vastly improved bumpmaps and shiny that looks quite different in the non-lighting & shadows renderer.
This feature's intention is to improve the overall visual appearance of objects with either bump or shiny applied to them by calculating illumination from the sun and moon per-pixel instead of per-vertex for lower end video cards.
GPUs targetted for this feature are Intel HD GPUs and better.
Initially, this will only apply to objects that:
- Have shiny applied
- Have bumpiness applied
And will (hopefully) eventually support objects that:
- Have alpha applied with bumpiness
- Have alpha applied with shiny
Only the sun and moon's lighting will be taken into consideration initially for performance reasons.
