Test settings on Windows and Mac between re-installs

Based on numerous reports (STORM-1268, VWR-22971, EXP-817), a number of settings are reset when upgrading the viewer.
To help us track down the problem, please change all possible settings and verify which are reset when

• manually upgrading
• automatically upgrading
  on both Beta and Release viewers.
  please attach settings.xml and ignorable_dialogs.xml files before and after upgrade. (and any additional settings files you may find relevant).
