Steps to Reproduce

After the update Windows 10

Actual Behavior

I tried with Firestorm and Secondlife viewer. As soon as I launch any viewer, there is a cracking sound before the connection and just after charging parameters. Once connected, when I use my voice, looks like a zombie robot. I reinstalled all viewers, I reinstalled my sound drivers, I checked the voice parameters on the viewer. The problem still persists.
Can you help me ?

Expected Behavior

I thought my voice would work.

Other information

The sound problem is only on Second Life.
When I run Skype or magnetophone, the sound is normal. I also tried to record my voice with tape recorder windows while logged on Second Life and recording is ok but not on Second Life voice.

My material information:
Microphone (Connexant smart audio HD)

Heya Robby,

The crackling sound you hear when the viewer launches is filed at BUG-9781.

There have been a few people reporting this "monster" or robotic sounding voice in SL after updating to Windows 10.
Make sure you are using the latest sound card drivers first.

If you hear others voice normally, but your own voice has the robotic sound, this is fixing the problem for some of those people:
Windows Start button -> Settings
Type Audio into the "Find a setting" top right
Go to "Manage Audio Devices" -> Recording tab
Right click your Microphone -> Properties -> Advanced tab
Under Default format, change it to 2 channel, 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD quality).
For people this fixed the problem for, their Mic was previously set to use 48000 Hz.

Does that help?

Thanks very much, the problem has solved with this "Default format".
Have nice day,

Another person with this problem was fixed by unticking "Enable Audio Enhancements" in the microphone properties: http://prntscr.com/927o6j

Artemisia who filed BUG-10679 left me a message to tell me that she was fixed by disabling Audio Enhancements too :)
