I haven't been able to reproduce that yet.
When using Second Life 3.7.29 (301305) Apr 27 2015 11:41:55 (Second Life Release), I can eject (or ban) my alt from Firestorm Support English when the alt is logged in on Second Life 3.7.7 (289405) or when the alt isn't even logged in.
The alt does not have the ability to load the group members list in that group since Tuesdays roll.
I can also eject my alt from Firestorm Support English when both of us are using Second Life 3.7.7 (289405).
I did get bitten by SVC-32 though, which makes it appear to the alt that they didn't actually get ejected until they relog - the group name remains in the group list and they can continue to chat in the group after ejection.

I'm filing this just as a heads up for support.
Users running out of date viewers (both LL and TPV) will be unable to leave any group they are a member of if:
Leaving the group will silently fail.
This problem is grid-wide after todays main channel roll to server version 15.05.28.302161.
Problem appears to affect any viewer which does not have the group bans code merged in.
Affected LL viewers
Any build on the 3.7.7 codebase or earlier which does not have any of the group bans code.
For example http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.7.7.289405
Known Affected TPVs
Older versions of Firestorm viewer, 4.6.7 or earlier.
4.6.9 release and 4.7.1 beta are unaffected
