[BUG-9010] Renaslut V3 body for the KZK Renamon rigged mesh avatar is deformed for self and all observers on post-attachment fix viewers #16564

Steps to Reproduce

  • Login on Second Life 3.7.26 (299635) Mar 6 2015 11:35:55 (Second Life Release) (Current default release).

  • God-take a copy of the repro box.

  • Open repro box and choose "Replace Outfit".
    You will now be wearing the repro outfit and a folder named "BUG-9010 Renaslut repro avatar" will have been created in inventory.

  • Relog.
    Note that a relog isn't always necessary to see the deformation but a couple of times when I have replaced outfit with the repro avatar, the avatar looked correct until I relogged. It seems to depend sometimes on which order the attachments are added to the avatar I guess. After a relog when wearing this avatar the bug will always reproduce.

  • Observe how the rigged mesh body looks, in particular the neck, chest and arm areas and how the tail attaches to the body.

  • Relog on an older viewer build which doesn't contain the rigged mesh attachment fixes, for example http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.7.19.295759 and observe how the avatar body looks.

    Observed behaviour

  • On current default release, the repro avatar body will be deformed for yourself and all observers also using a post-attachment fix viewer.

  • Observers using a pre-attachment fixes viewer will always see you correctly.

    Yourself and all observers using a post-attachment fixes viewer will see the following problems with the avatar body:

  • The waist/hips area of the body will not be a smooth line.
    Fig 1 shows the incorrect waist/hip area on a post-attachment fix viewer.
    Fig 2 shows the correct waist/hip area on a pre-attachment fix viewer.

  • The neck will be too short and the head sinks into the body.
    Fig 3 shows the incorrect neck area on a post-attachment fix viewer.
    Fig 4 shows the correct neck area on a pre-attachment fix viewer.

  • The chest area is all lumpy looking and mangaled.
    Fig 5 shows the incorrect chest area on a post-attachment fix viewer.
    Fig 6 shows the correct chest area on a pre-attachment fix viewer.

  • The tail does not snugly fit into the body
    Fig 7 shows the incorrect tail join area on a post-attachment fix viewer.
    Fig 8 shows the correct tail join area on a pre-attachment fix viewer.

  • Zooming camera out and back in or editing on the body does not cause the body to snap into the correct shape.
    The deformation is persistant.

    Expected Behaviour

    The repro avatar should display correctly as it did on the pre-attachment fix viewers.

    Other Information

  • I suspect this is related to BUG-8616, though I do not know if this body is rigged using the "cube trick".
    The deformation of the BUG-8616 repro avatar was transient and could be fixedby zooming the camera out and back. This does not work for this avatar, the deformation seen is persistant.

  • This bug was reported by some Firestorm beta testers who are currently testing what will be the next Firestorm release which has the attachment fixes merged in.
    We have had several reports from beta testers now of rigged mesh avatars looking deformed on builds containing the attachment fixes but rendering correctly on older builds without the attachment fixes.
    If this issue is going to be a "wont fix" like the BUG-8616 case, please can a Linden leave a comment saying so on this issue.
    I'm a bit worried about the amount of complaints we will get from users and creators once we release with this bug and we need to know what to tell the users and creators - if it is something that will be fixed or whether the creator will need to rig their mesh differently and update their products.
