Steps to Reproduce

I did nothing special, I'd just clean unnecessary objects that were in my inventory

Actual Behavior

Hello,

Since Tuesday, March 24 after the Second Life server deploy when I empty the trash before you log off.
But when I log in, I found in the trash objects that were in it when I emptied before log off.
I have a LL house on the sim MASAHISA

To empty my trash, I am obliged to serve the purpose which is not in any normal case

I hope you are going to solve this problem, which is boring

Thank you in advance

Matti Portal

Expected Behavior

I thought my trash would be empty as it usually happens

Other information

Let me think that this annoying problem is due to a problem of the sim, because before the Second Life server deploy, I had no problem to empty my trash and remained completely empty when I log in

I think this because after the Second Life server deploy the Tuesday 24 March, the sim was not working properly, TP impossible avatar not loading, inventory either, this was already spent last year following a restart or maintance and etc .....

Heya Matti,

Are you only having this problem when you empty Trash while standing on your home location on Masahisa?
The other symptoms you list sound like region issues.

I went to Masahisa and everything appears fine there at the moment - capabilities are working.
I tested emptying Trash while standing on Masahisa and relogging to the same region and my Trash folder remained empty. I tested this on the LL viewer & Firestorm.
If Masahisa has been restarted since you filed this problem then that probably fixed the issue.

Ugh ignore the above comment.
I was testing on Firestorm tip which has AIS3 merged in.

Confirmed that on ANY RC region (Magnum, Bluesteel, LeTigre), if you empty Trash and relog when using a pre-AIS3 viewer, the purged Trash is back in inventory.
This will affect the current releases of Firestorm and Singularity & some other TPVs.

Edited issue summary to reflect the real problem.

I can reproduce this on Linux with FS 4.6.9 with an interesting observation:

I had two items in trash, emptied trash and relogged. Those two items were still in trash.

I emptied trash again, then moved another item to trash and emptied trash, then relogged. The first two items did not return, only the most recently purged item returned.

The RC regions got "code clean up around inventory" this week: https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/Deploy-for-the-week-of-2015-03-23/td-p/2916641

Thanks Caleb.

You can reproduce this on the LL viewer using any pre-AIS3 build, for example this one: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.6.9.282553

Also tested disabling the AIS3 cap on the current default release code and the bug reproduces so it's definitely lack of AIS3 in the viewer thats causing the problem.

I have been having the same issue with my trash but also my Inventory will not load on any Rc if I log into one, I cannot rename photos in an RC region and my scripts are really messed up in the RC regions. This has been going on for 2 days now....My Sim is Ceres on the RC Magnum Server

I cannot reproduce being unable to rename snapshots or inventory failing to fetch on a clean cache on the RC regions when using a pre-AIS3 viewer but we (Firestorm support) do have a couple of support tickets filed from users who cannot fetch any intentory on an RC region (any RC region). I'm not sure why I cannot reproduce it myself though but I have a horrid feeling there are probably other inventory problems on pre-AIS3 viewers on the RC regions.

Caleb, do you know if the RC is going to get promoted next week or is this a blocker?

Whirly I have followed the FS support suggestions to a tee and my partner has the same issue with trash but not the renaming of photos and body parts not showing being worn. If I tp to my LL home that is not on an RC channel everything is fine. I have all these issues on all of the RC Servers

Whirly, I have forwarded this JIRA to my team, and we are going to sync up next week.

Kellyjo, could you verify if you see the same issue running the latest SL Viewer against RC and Second Life Server?

Caleb I would but we had our personal sim moved to a Main Server tonight so tomorrow I will find a RC Server sim and log in with the Latest SL Viewer and get back with you

Okay I found one repro for inventory failing to fetch and being unable to rename any full perm asset in inventory on any RC region.
You just need to have HttpInventory disabled.
This also reproduces on the current LL viewer: Second Life 3.7.26 (299635) Mar 6 2015 11:35:55 (Second Life Release)

Kellyjo, do you have HttpInventory disabled?

Caleb, do you want a seperate issue filed for this?
This only reproduced on an RC region. If you teleport to a main channel server, the problem goes away instantly. If you teleport back to an RC region, the problem is back.
On the LL viewer with HttpInventory disabled on an RC region you can still purge Trash - purging Trash only fails on a pre-AIS3 viewer (with HttpInventory enabled).

Repro

  • Login on any RC region on Second Life 3.7.26 (299635) Mar 6 2015 11:35:55 (Second Life Release) with HttpInventory disabled.
  • Open Inventory and right click on any mod asset.
  • Observe Rename is greyed out.
  • Attempt to rez anything from inventory on the ground - it fails to rez.
  • Observe inventory is always stuck at "Fetching...." for the last inventory count you had on a main channel server. If you clean cache and login to an RC region, no inventory will fetch at all.
Inventory shows "Fetching 0 items" forever: http://i.imgur.com/hr8IxaZ.jpg
  • Even on a fully fetched inventory, avatar will not decloud on an RC region even after replacing outfits.
  • If you then teleport into any main channel region, inventory will start to fetch and finish fetching as normal and rename is no longer greyed out for mod assets.

Whirly all of my photos are full perm and yes my FS viewer has been tweeked per FS support and the links even down to my wired internet being completely RESET by my carrier. I have followed all of the rules and suggestion by FS Support inworld. Also had a chat with SL Live chat when this started and they took me to Tetra to see what was actually going on with my Avi and they found that the problem was most likely within the Viewer itself. I have done complete Clean Reinstall and moved inventory files like told.

@kellyjo
Do you have Http Inventory disabled on Firestorm? If so, this will explain your inventory fetching problems and snapshot renaming problems on the RC regions. Whatever changed on the RC regions is causing bad inventory issues on any viewer if Http Inventory is disabled.
Http Inventory should be enabled by default on Firestorm.

Activate the Develop menu in the top menu bar with CTRL+ALT+Q and under the Develop menu, make sure that Http Inventory is ticked.
If it was unticked, tick it and relog.
This should fix your inventory fetching and renaming problems on Firestorm.
It will not fix the Trash problem.

I have done complete Clean Reinstall and moved inventory files like told.
This will not help.
If you enable Http Inventory I'm fairly sure everything will be back to normal apart from being unable to empty your Trash on an RC region.

Can you confirm if you had Http Inventory disabled on Firestorm?

Hello to all,

Thank you for your answer,

It does this only happens with that trash, I ja empty and when I return to SL it contains new objects that were in it, I have no problems with load my inventory, I also clean my Cache Friday mation and my inventory out laod then when I log

No, I tried to change sim, empty the trahs and I relog, the objects were returned to the trash, as if she had not been emptied, but when I did try this I returned to my home on LL Masahisa for me log out and then relog me I have no problems to rename a photo

I come now to redo a try, I empty the trash, I log out and when I relog objects are returned to the trash

I hope you all can solve this problem

I am waiting for the "solution"

Hugs to all and good weekend

@ Whirly should I maybe do a clean install of the viewer so that things are fresh and clean without moving the inv file?

Whirly Fizzle commented at 2015-03-28T14:52:36Z

Honestly that shouldn't be needed.
Keep Http Inventory enabled (Im guessing you unticked it while troubleshooting the Trash problem).
A clean install wont fix the Trash purging issue. Nothing will fix that apart from a server side fix on the RC regions or using an AIS3 enabled viewer.
You should be okay now - just keep in mind that Trash wont purge on any RC region.

If you discover any other inventory oddities when using Firestorm on an RC region, please note them here.

i can reproduce this with dolphin viewer 3 beta (which is still pre AIS3) in both RC Magnum and RC BlueSteel, and also how it does not reproduce in non-rc regions... and how it also does not reproduce at all in the official viewer, in the latest RLV and in FS tip.

Testing on Exland region on Aditi - this region has the proposed fix for this bug.
secondlife://Aditi/secondlife/Exland/128/128/16
DRTSIM-279 15.03.30.300351

Using Firestorm 4.6.9 release - Pre-AIS3 viewer

Testing with Http Inventory enabled.
Inventory fetches normally after a cache clean and relog into Exland.
After purging Trash and purging Lost & Found and relogging into Exland, both Trash and Lost & Found remain purged.

The original Trash purging problem is no longer reproducible on a pre-AIS3 viewer :)

Note: I cannot test all inventory operations properly because I do not have rez rights on Exland.
However, for what I can test, all inventory operations on a pre-AIS3 viewer on Exland region appear to be working as expected when Http Inventory is enabled

However, when Http Inventory is disabled (on any viewer) on Exland there are still a lot of problems.
I'll file a seperate issue for this I guess - still poking at it.
