Whirly Fizzle commented at 2014-10-29T16:00:39Z Heya Findbhair, We have had reports about this same problem coming into Firestorm support over the last week - all those affected are AMD systems using the new driver version 8.17.0010.1315 The 8.17.0010.1315 driver version appears to be the AMD Catalyst™ 14.9.2 Beta - http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMDCatalyst14-9-2BetaWINReleaseNotes.aspx Can you confirm that you are indeed using the Catalyst 14.9.2 Beta driver? |

Findbhair McConaught commented at 2014-10-29T16:44:50Z, updated at 2014-10-29T16:46:18Z Alles klar, Whirly, ich mache eine downgrad weg von dem BETA Treiber zur stable Version ..... öhm wie geht das? |
ObviousAltIsObvious commented at 2014-10-29T17:03:08Z, updated at 2014-10-29T17:03:25Z Another me too. The AMD 14.9.2 beta driver will not display rigged mesh (any rigged mesh at all, doesn't matter if it's fitted etc.) unless hardware skinning is OFF. These are Radeon 77xx cards. |

|
Whirly Fizzle commented at 2014-10-29T17:21:51Z Changed issue title now we are sure this driver is the problem. |
ObviousAltIsObvious commented at 2014-10-29T17:56:06Z, updated at 2014-10-29T17:57:18Z For best results, uninstall the beta driver from the Windows control panel, under add/remove software (choose the option to express uninstall ALL AMD software) and reboot, before reinstalling the older, working release. |
Findbhair McConaught commented at 2014-10-29T18:58:31Z, updated at 2014-10-29T19:14:53Z Eine clean-install des stable treibers 14.9. löste das Problem promt. :)) DANKE! meine Vorgehensweise war (Win 7 x64 Prof):

Maestro Linden commented at 2014-10-29T19:12:56Z Thanks for the report, Findbhair. I can reproduce this; there appears to be a regression in the Catalyst 14.9.2 beta driver. Using the default default catalyst WHQL driver (14.301.1001.0, from 2014-09-15). Full Env is :
The attached screenshot (maestro_catalyst_release.png) is with graphics set to the 'High' preset, which includes hardware skinning. Rendering appears correct in this case. After I 'upgraded' to the 14.9.2 beta driver (following Whirly's link):
I see that my that my rigged meshes simply don't render, though non-rigged meshes (either attached or unattached) are still looking ok. The attached maestro_catalyst_beta_hwskin_enabled.png shows this case. When I disable hardware skinning, my rigged mesh attachments instantly render ok. However, this also has the effect of disabling all normal and specular map effects (my jacket no longer sparkles!). The attached maestro_catalyst_beta_hwskin_disabled.png shows this. |
Findbhair McConaught commented at 2014-10-29T19:16:05Z my pleasure :)) |
Whirly Fizzle commented at 2014-10-29T19:24:00Z Anyone know if the Catalyst 14.9.1 beta (http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMDCatalyst14-9-1BetaWINReleaseNotes.aspx) repros the bug? |
Findbhair McConaught commented at 2014-10-29T20:26:57Z 14.9.1 beta arbeitet auf unserem 2. Rechner problemlos mit einer AMD Radeon R9 270 .... deswegen hatte ich auch keine Skrupel 14.9.2 zu benutzen (dumm gedacht) :D |
ObviousAltIsObvious commented at 2014-10-29T20:31:50Z 14.9.1 beta now installed here, and also no problems here. Windows Graphics Driver Version: 8.17.0010.1315 |
MartinRJ Fayray commented at 2014-10-29T22:48:25Z I have this issue on my laptop with GeForce 720M - I have absolutely no AMD drivers installed there - and also on my desktop PC with AMD Radeon HD 7850. |
MartinRJ Fayray commented at 2014-10-30T07:28:53Z, updated at 2014-10-30T07:29:22Z I take it back, it looks like my mane is also rigged mesh. |
Crishan Graves commented at 2014-10-30T17:37:52Z, updated at 2014-11-11T11:15:40Z I can confirm this bug, it lies entirely with AMD's latest OpenGL Library, version 6.14.10.13085, With OpenGL version 6.14.10.13084 used in Catalyst 14.9 WHQL (and also used in Catalyst 14.9.1 Beta), with OpenGL version 6.14.10.13085 used in Catalyst 14.9.2 BETA, the avatar is displayed like this: There is a way to fix this without reinstalling your OS: These files are usually located in a directory structure such as this: Copy these to a directory of your choice and unpack them, using Of course, you could also just uninstall the Catalyst 14.9.2 Beta package A BIG REMINDER, though: Edit (11th of November 2014): |
ObviousAltIsObvious commented at 2014-11-12T08:15:33Z Just a quick confirmation on the 14.11.1 breakage, same bug as 14.9.2 |
Whirly Fizzle commented at 2014-11-18T04:23:32Z, updated at 2014-11-18T04:28:15Z Comment on http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Second-Life-Tech/AMD-14-11-1Beta-driver-an-secondlife/m-p/2867042#M1911 states that this bug is fixed with the 14.11.2 Beta (http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMDCatalyst14-11-2-BetaWINReleaseNotes.aspx). |
MartinRJ Fayray commented at 2014-11-18T06:25:14Z, updated at 2014-11-18T06:27:35Z I can confirm it is fixed with the latest AMD Beta driver.
|
ObviousAltIsObvious commented at 2014-11-18T06:44:30Z, updated at 2014-11-18T07:25:09Z Bug still reproduces here with 14.11.2 driver. Windows Graphics Driver Version: 8.17.0010.1315 (BTW, yes, 14.11.1 and 14.11.2 report the same version strings.) |
MartinRJ Fayray commented at 2014-11-18T06:59:29Z ObviousAltIsObvious is right. Windows somehow overruled my driver settings when I installed the Catalyst Beta and downgraded my graphics driver it to an older one yesterday.
|
ObviousAltIsObvious commented at 2014-12-09T09:43:52Z The bug persists in the final version of this driver, the Catalyst 14.12 "Omega" package that AMD is now heavily promoting. Sigh. Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc. Windows Graphics Driver Version: 8.17.0010.1333 |
Whirly Fizzle commented at 2014-12-09T10:49:22Z Oh fun times... |
Findbhair McConaught commented at 2014-12-09T15:37:10Z Indeed, I see hard times for the support teams ... We really should work more closely with AMD. |
ObviousAltIsObvious commented at 2015-02-04T14:31:17Z Adding another to the pile. There is a beta Catalyst download in circulation intended for Alienware machines, labeled as 14.502.1002 or "15.x". It can install on some non-Dell systems too, so hardware enthusiasts have been playing with it. This driver set contains the same bugs. SL viewers will report it as OpenGL Version 4.2.13285 |
ObviousAltIsObvious commented at 2015-03-08T21:10:16Z, updated at 2015-03-08T21:11:02Z Over in Singularity land they found a tweak to make the shaders work on these AMD drivers. singularity-viewer/SingularityViewer@af41a65 For me, applying the same tweak to LL and Firestorm viewers solves the invisible mesh problem too. It's mysterious that this change would make a difference, but it does. |
Whirly Fizzle commented at 2015-03-08T21:15:40Z @ObviousAltIsObvious Are you seeing any broken normals on rigged mesh when using the Singularity tweak? |
ObviousAltIsObvious commented at 2015-03-08T22:36:13Z, updated at 2015-03-08T22:45:06Z So far, can't find a way to reproduce that either on Singularity, or on other viewers with comparable shader tweaks. However, broken normals, splotchy appearance and flickering are things I expect to see when hardware skinning is left disabled. (Singularity in particular does have some lighting problems that can show up as visible seams on mesh, but that's independent of driver versions.) |
ObviousAltIsObvious commented at 2015-03-13T15:11:51Z, updated at 2015-03-13T15:15:27Z A new Catalyst is due for next week on Windows. The corresponding fglrx package has already been dropped to the Ubuntu vivid beta. The hardware skinning bug persists. (AMD OpenGL drivers on the two platforms have a history of bug-for-bug compatibility, I'm hoping that this will be a little behind anyway, given the results.) OpenGL Version: 4.4.13374 Compatibility Profile Context 14.501.1003 |
Whirly Fizzle commented at 2015-03-20T23:57:10Z Has anyone had the chance to try this yet? http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx Resolved issues: /me prays..... |
Steps to Reproduce
Basically nothing more than to have set up the system from scratch, same OS, same hardware and also identical graphics drivers, as before, but at one view, not a rigged mesh more.
So in other words I have no idea what I should have done .... the last few years it went without any complaints. lol
Actual Behavior
Since yesterday I put the system from scratch for exchange of a HD, I now see no more rigged mesh.
Ungerigged mesh can be seen and mesh objects in the landscape also, just on the body rigged mesh not, unless I disable the base shader or hardware skinning. But THIS is NOT solution for me, because then neither adv. lightning are still shadows activated, and I am builder and need both functions urgent and of course clothes on my body and that of the other.
But and it is definitely there, because after login it is very briefly seen, then it disappears for me.
Expected Behavior
ja was wohl lol .... Kleidung auf meinem Körper
yes lol .... well what clothes on my body
