Isn't this really an operating system thing? In Windows 10 for example, support for this is already built in and works with SL. Late model Mac Os, also Windows 8, have that too.

Emojis are already implemented, it is part of unicode. Colour emojis are not. Colour emojis use a new font format which would require a upgrade to the font renderer.

it's all cool, there are monochrome fallbacks for the color ones and those already display in SL. It's more about typing the things that this feature request was covering.
