[BUG-231165] Joegeot roads: Finish the Shortcut by developping abandoned land on 2 regions #8688

SarahKB7 Koskinen commented at 2021-09-01T09:07:11Z I would welcome this addition to Jeogeot's road network as this would improve ease of access to local inhabitants and it opens up further areas for visitors and adventurers to explore. |
AlettaMondragon commented at 2021-09-01T13:05:44Z I think it's a very nice idea to add this last section of the Shortcut between Route 10 and Route 9 East. If you're familiar with Jeogeot's road network, the already existing Shortcut is a great help to get from Route 9 West to Wellington Road and to Route 10 quickly, but if you want to get to the East half of Route 9, you have to go around via Yeot. Allowing vehicle enthusiasts to easily cross from the Western and Eastern coastal areas here would be a nice improvement for the road community, as well as we've seen the example that setting the rest of the abandoned land around the new road for auction helps the growth of SL, as the new parcels sell immediately. Most people like to own a parcel on a roadside or waterfront for many reasons, so the more of them are available, the better for everyone. |
1hannah.actor commented at 2021-09-01T20:40:20Z I'll +1 this. Seems like a lot of drivers would appreciate this. |
Combine Clary commented at 2021-09-02T00:31:01Z This is a great idea, personally I'd love to see more roads connected on various continents, allowing for a more loop-like driving and less dead ends. I truly hope LL would implement this! Perhaps they could add various sub-parcels alongside the road as well for people to buy, making it more interesting for people to set up homes or shops there. A plausible larger truck-stop style rez zone would also be a great addition, given the location of this Jira request. |
Rathgrith027 commented at 2021-09-03T03:04:27Z Second the notion from the others - this would be a good idea. |
Shakeno Tomsen commented at 2021-09-03T12:16:25Z Agreed. The less dead ends in the mainland road networks, the better. |
Implacabilis commented at 2021-09-03T19:40:21Z Nice idea. |

How would you like the feature to work?
There is currently two parcels of abandoned land on region Nangrim and two more on Sokri. There is enough room and a slope gentle enough to create right-of-way parcels running through these, along a gently curving path, allowing a much needed road link between Route 10 and Route 9 on central East Jeogeot. Each T-junction, at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Nangrim/55/249/73 and at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sokri/73/5/56, could be fitted with with stop signs and guardrails as at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Dansim/134/72/46 and the difference of road pavement type between Route 9 and Route 10 at these intersections could be transitioned as at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Seonggye/177/151/102. I have attached two map sketches showing the current situation (with the relevant abandoned parcels marked in purple) and the proposed outcome. I also include a snapshot of the narrowest point of the proposed right-of-way (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Nangrim/86/234/78), with a slightly oversized automobile in place for scale.
Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?
The Shortcut is a handy thoughfare linking the western leg of Route 9 to the Wellington road and thence to Route 10, roughly west to east. This proposed new segment would alow a final connection of Route 10 near its intersection with the Shortcut (at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Nangrim/15/202/72) to the eastern leg of Route 9, providing East Jeogeot with a better integrated road network, which is important for me and all other residents who enjoy driving on Mainland for leisure or competition. This new stretch of protected land would likely increase the value of the adjoining plots, as has happened elsewhere along the Shortcut and other newly built roads, such as on Osiliers / Varean regions.
