This issue is resolved in AMD's latest video driver. Update your video driver to Adrenalin 2020 Edition 21.1.1
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-21-1-1

Previous workarounds were:

  1. Roll back to an older video driver that doesn't have the bug: Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.11.2
    https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-20-11-2

  2. Start the viewer with Advanced Lighting Model disabled (in Preferences > Graphics), log in, then enable Advanced Lighting Model.

Hi kk,

Please attach a screenshot or 2 of the bug you see. Use "More > Attach Files" above.

  1. Is World > Environment set to Use Shared Environment?
  2. Is the login screen blue too?
  3. You are currently running an RC viewer. Does this repro with the Release viewer from https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/ (currently 6.4.11.551711)?
  4. Can you tell if anything changed right before this started, such as updating the video drivers.

Click the Info Provided button above you reply.

One other resident had a similar issue https://community.secondlife.com/forums/topic/463286-everything-is-tinted-blue/?sortby=date and was able to workaround it by disabling ALM. Of course, that's not an ideal solution.

Thank you,
Dan

Sorry, ALM means Advanced Lighting Model.
Preferences > Graphics > Advanced Lighting Model checkbox.

There's a couple mentions of this in the forums, linked above.

[~kk.rufus] Has disabling ALM fixed it?
Someone on the forum says this can be fixed by rolling the video drivers back.

Hello KK,

Please let us know if rolling back your Adrenalin drivers to 20.11.2 fixes the issue.

Thanks!

I just helped a user through this, they were on the 20.10 version and only turning ALM off helped them.

A possible workaround: Start the viewer with Advanced Lighting Model (in Preferences > Graphics) disabled, log in, then enable Advanced Lighting Model.

@dan, I tested your work around with the following steps/results:

  1. Disabled ALM, logged out

  2. Updated AMD Driver to 27.20.1034.6

  3. Logged in

  4. Observed no blue

  5. Enabled ALM

  6. Observed no blue

  7. Relogged

  8. Observed blue

  9. Disabled ALM

  10. Observed blue

  11. Relogged

  12. Observed no blue

So, yes, that does work. As long as ALM is off during log in, you're good, and can enable it after login successfully.

+1 on everything Yasligai said. The user I was helping only saw a result after turning ALM off and relogging. Just turning it off while already logged in did not fix it for her.

I don't have the right hardware to reproduce this bug myself, but it was reported in TPV meeting that the latest AMD drivers no longer have this issue. Adrenalin 2020 Edition 21.1.1, released 21-Jan-2021. Please update to latest AMD driver and let us know if that solves the issue.

Updated driver does seem to have resolved the issue.

  1. Enabled ALM
  2. Logged out
  3. Downloaded and installed 21.1.1 from AMD
  4. Relaunched SL (again, ALM already enabled)
  5. Observed that blue issues is resolved.

Thank you for testing that Yasligai!
I've updated this jira's Description with the recommended action:
Update your video driver to Adrenalin 2020 Edition 21.1.1
