Steps To Reproduce

  • Open the internal web browser
Develop -> UI -> Media Browser.

  • In the DuckDuckGo search box, attempt to type in any character with which your keyboard needs to use the AltGr key to type.

  • Your location & keyboard type will affect how to do this - please see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AltGr_key

  • For example, on my English keyboard, typing AltGr+4 should type the € character.

  • Repeat the same steps using a pre-CEF 2020 viewer, for example, https://releasenotes.secondlife.com/viewer/6.4.3.542964.html

    Observed Behaviour

  • On a CEF 2020 viewer, you cannot type in any character that needs the AltGr key into the internal web browser.

  • I consider this bug major because there are times a user has to login to their SL account in the internal web browser & if they have used any special characters in their password that need the AltGr key to type, they will be unable to login.

  • This is particularly pertinent currently because of all the cookie login fail which causes the user to have to always login to the marketplace when clicking the Shop button & often having to login to view web profiles etc.

  • This is also likely to be a major problem for French / Belgian residents because Azerty keyboards use a lot of AltGr combinations.

  • Bug does not reproduce on pre-CEF 2020 viewers
    eg) Second Life 6.4.3.542964 (64bit)
    https://releasenotes.secondlife.com/viewer/6.4.3.542964.html
All characters needing AltGr type in the internal web browser without a problem.

  • The above gif shows the bug not reproducing on Pre-CEF 2020 build 6.4.3.542964

    Expected Behaviour

The AltGr key should be functional in the internal web browser as it was in pre-CEF 2020 viewers.

    Other Information

  • AltGr characters type in viewer chat without a problem, it's only broken in the internal web browser.

On azerty keyboards this means that the following characters cannot be entered into the built-in browser: | @ # { [ ^{ } - [ ] ´ ` \ ~ €
