How would you like the feature to work?

Make the chat range a user definable setting on the region, and make sure it works across multiple regions.

Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?

Large meetings must be held at the four corners to accommodate a large number of avatars. The distance between avatars means that not everyone is within chat range and we must rely on scripted repeaters that shout everything that is chatted.

Is the range determined on the region where the chat is emitted? So if I'm in a region with old school 20m (llSay) chat range at the very edge of a 100m chat region, my chat goes 20m, not 100m deep into the other region? And if I'm in that 100m region, there's nothing the next region can do to prevent my chat from travelling that full 100m into their region?

If it works the other way, range determined by the recipient's region, then does chat from a 20m region, emitted 21m from the border, not cross into the neighboring 100m region? or does it go 20m in the emitting region, be undetectable for a meter, then 79m deep into the 100m region?

(I'm restraining myself from making a diagram; probably this was all resolved long ago and more clearly specified than I could manage anyway.)

channel 0 should probably have a separate setting for this and another for all the other channels.
