What just happened?

Following your second last automatic update to SL, whenever I sit on an object my avatar's face darkens - like there is no light reaching it. Whenever I stand up again, the problem goes away and it looks correct again.

What were you doing when it happened?

Sitting on an object

What were you expecting to happen instead?

Nothing - light should stay the same as when I am standing up.

Other information

Is this something I can fix myself or will you fix it back to how it was previously in your next automatic update?

Thank you for the report, ChristineX!

This repros for me in Second Life Release 6.3.6.535003
This does not repro in Second Life Release 6.3.5.533275

If the Draw Distance (in Preferences > Graphics > Draw Distance) > the distance your camera is from the SouthWest corner (0,0,0 coordinate) of the region then the lights you are wearing will work.

This also affects lights in adjacent regions.

Don't understand what you mean by draw distance - can only change it in meters, not in coordinates. Just tried this again and issue is still there. Started when EEP was released. Can EEP be disabled?

Hiya Christine,

The EEP viewer is still a release candidate viewer.
If you roll back to the default release viewer at https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/ you won't experience this bug.

Actually, this bug exists in the default release viewer too, not just EEP. It will be fixed in an upcoming Maintenance viewer.

When do you expect to have a fix for this?

I installed the latest automatic update today, hoping that it would have the fix, but the issue is still there.

Version installed now is: 6.4.0.538823 (64bit).

There is a fix for this in the current Maintenance release viewer if you want to give that a try:

https://releasenotes.secondlife.com/viewer/6.3.9.538719.html

Let us know if the issue continues to occur in that build.

Thank you!

I tried this today and now it is working fine again.

Should not this update be part of the standard automatic updates? Or will it be in the next default release?

Thanks

Hiya Christine,

The maintenance viewer will eventually be promoted to the default release viewer.
