Shininess, Environment = 1 makes Fullbright objects too bright.

Repro:
0) Ensure ALM is enabled.

  1. Create a box.
  2. Click the Texture tab in the Edit tools.
  3. Tick the Full Bright checkbox.
  4. Click Shininess (specular)
  5. Click the texture swatch and choose the Default texture (plywood).
  6. Change the Environment from 0 to 1

Observed: On the affected EEP viewer, the box turns white.
Attached "incorrect 6.4.0.527723 EEP.png"

Expected: The box should become a little brighter because it became more reflective.
Attached "correct 6.2.2.527338 release.png"

Original report:

What just happened?

I changed avatars into one that has a texture that utilizes full bright setting but no glow options. The texture did not render as expected. See the snapshot entitled EEP_ALM.png.

What were you doing when it happened?

I changed avatars.

What were you expecting to happen instead?

I was expecting the textures to load as seen in the FSrelease.png snapshot. This does include ALM.

Other information

I first noticed the issue in FS EEP build, tested it in FS current release that does NOT have EEP, and reproduced it in the current Linden Lab EEP build viewer.

EDIT: Went to the Firestorm Marina region and attached two new screenshots with both ALM on and ALM off. With it on, the entire sky is blown out alongside the textures on the ground and my avatar. With it off, most things return to some semblance of normalcy.

Hi Hatake,  Can you try yesterday's  viewer and let us know if your issue is better or worse? https://releasenotes.secondlife.com/viewer/6.4.0.527723.html

Hi Alexa.

Just downloaded the update and while I can report the sky and ground are a massive improvement, this particular set of textures (both the rainbow and the blue/green) still do not render properly with ALM on. I've uploaded two new screenshots and apologies, they are large. I felt reducing their physical dimensions would reduce legibility on the floaters.

Ninja edit: I even tried with a new cache folder in hopes it was simply a cached bad texture. Made no difference.
