Whirly Fizzle commented at 2019-04-22T11:43:35Z, updated at 2019-04-22T11:44:27Z I'm unable to reproduce this on my system on either the default LL release viewer Second Life Release 6.2.0.526190 (64bit) I wonder if this is a shader bug in the EEP-RC that affects systems using OpenGL Version: 3.3.0 though. JETalbot, you are currently using the EEP-RC viewer from http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Alternate_Viewers If you install the default LL viewer from https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/, does that fix the problem? Thanks :) My system into: Second Life Release 6.2.0.526104 (64bit)

Kyle Linden commented at 2019-04-23T19:31:34Z Hi JETalbot Bookmite, I can see that you have gone back to the release viewer and have logged in today. I hope all is well now. Please note that EEP based viewer will eventually be promoted to default release and unless we solve your report independently, this issue could affect you again in the future. If you are inclined to help us test a few things out, please update your Nvidia Geforce drivers to the latest version for your GTX 260 from: The reinstall the EEP viewer and see if the problem persists. Please let us know if that works, or if not, and press the Info Provided button. Thanks! |
JETalbot Bookmite commented at 2019-04-24T01:09:49Z I did not notice this occurring on any previous update. However, it's been quite some time since I clicked "Default". In normal usage, to minimize lag, I have to keep the settings very low. So this could have slipped in in the previous update (or two), and I might not have noticed.
As you requested, I installed the standard viewer, and tried again. This time, I was unable to reproduce the problem.
I do want to help, so I have downloaded drivers and the EEP viewer as you suggested. I will comment again after I have tried them out. |
JETalbot Bookmite commented at 2019-04-24T01:39:00Z As it turns out, I already have Nvidia's latest driver (v342.01) installed. It seems that there is nothing further for me to do to help you. |
Whirly Fizzle commented at 2019-04-24T21:53:41Z So just to clarify, you can't reproduce this problem on the default release viewer from https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/, but you can reproduce it on the EEP viewer from http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/6.2.0.526104? |
JETalbot Bookmite commented at 2019-04-24T23:17:33Z That is correct, Whirly. I reproduced it on the EEP viewer from http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/6.2.0.526104 Then I tried the default release viewer from https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/, but was unable to reproduce the problem. Then, when asked to upgrade my display driver, I found it was already up-to-date, and had been for a very long time. Subsequent steps were also requested, to test operation of both viewers against the "new" driver. These tests look entirely redundant to me, since the "old" driver IS the "new" driver. |
Whirly Fizzle commented at 2019-04-25T15:31:58Z Thanks! |
What just happened?
I set Graphics Level to Default (which is between High and Ultra), and the scene became unintelligible.
What were you doing when it happened?
Visiting Notre Dame. (But it also happens in every other place I've visited.)
What were you expecting to happen instead?
I was expecting to get a clearer, sharper view of Notre Dame.
Other information
Textures appeared as if pasted onto the monitor, behind the UI. The UI still works, and setting the Graphics level back to Mid (or lower) removes the effects.
