What just happened?

I am testing the beta versions of Windows 10 May 2019 update as insider preview member. From the 18356.16 version (i try 18362.1, 18362.30, and 18875.1000 RS_Prerelease), the Second Life viewers collapse the video when exit from the application, leaving the screen black or with the colors all distorted that i show in the attached photos. It happens with all last versions of the official viewer including betas, such as BakesOnMesh, EAM, EEP or Maintenance version. I have a NVIDIA GeForge GTX 1060 graphic board with the last 425.31 drivers. Everything I have tried does not solve. But I emphasize that the firestorm viewer does work well.
These problems do not occur to me with the current version of windows, fall creator update, in which the viewers work correctly
Sorry for my basic english.

What were you doing when it happened?

Simply by using the official viewer.

What were you expecting to happen instead?

That the viewer will not affect the video system when it closes.

Hiya Kubbrick,

There was another report of this from a user on the Windows 10 insider preview build 18875 - see BUG-226812.

Please can you check if you have the Windows 10 "Night Light" feature enabled. Night Light is known to cause this bug - see BUG-202704 for details.
The program Flux (https://justgetflux.com/) or any similar program will also cause it.

But I emphasize that the firestorm viewer does work well.

Firestorm is probably fine because we have this fix: http://hg.phoenixviewer.com/phoenix-firestorm-lgpl/rev/bd866b180847
The fact Firestorm is ok makes me suspect that the Win 10 insider builds have Night Light enabled by default.

Unfortunately, the problem still occurs regardless of whether the "nigth ligth" mode is activated or not.

I do not use Flux software.

I entered the following sentence manually in to the windows registry: (Previously the sentence was not there.)

"Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ICM]
"GdiIcmGammaRange"=dword:00000100"

Try with the following values: 0 (0) and 100 (256).

Neither solves, the failure continues.

Hi Kubbrick,

We believe the root of the issue is a custom color profile that has been set up in Win10.

We are suspicious that Windows Insider builds may be a cause too. Regardless of the application that may have caused it, e.g. Night Light, Flux, you should be able to remove the profile.
Additional information on possible causes: https://forum.justgetflux.com/topic/6837/no-color-changes-under-windows-insider-19h1

Please refer to this MS article on how to reset your color profile. Please note while it was written for Win7 the instructions should still work for Win10.
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-desktop/restore-default-display-color/7553a387-0965-4639-94c0-b21af6ab1e8c?auth=1

We hope this has the intended effect of resolving the video distortion when you exit Second Life. If it does not please let us know.

Thanks!

Dear kyle. The color profile that I have set is the windows default, I attached screenshot that show this. This does not seem to be the cause of the problem and the failure is still occurring. I am actually testing version 18885.1001 (RE_Prerelease) of windows 10 may 19 update.

Hi Kubbrick,

Fascinating. Will you verify that when the issue does happen that you can press Ctrl+Shift+Windows+B which should reset your graphics and immediately resolve the issue for that occurrence?

We've recently had some report that following this article to set the correct color profile has resolved this issue.
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-configure-correct-color-profile-your-monitor-windows-10

If the issue is still not resolved please provide the following information.

Then, please go to your Windows menu and select Run and type in: dxdiag
Once that program has opened and gathered all your hardware information use its Copy to file option. Save that information and then attach it to this Jira.

Next, please install the free version of CCleaner from https://www.ccleaner.com/download
Open CCleaner, go to Tools > Uninstall, then in the bottom right choose Save to Textfile.
It looks like this: https://prnt.sc/lfj7e4
Attach the resulting file to this Jira.
This will give a list of all software installed on your system so we can look for a possible culprit.

Please press the info Provided Button when you update this report.

Thanks!

Hello Kyle

"Ctrl + Shift + Windows + B" does not allow the video affected by the viewer to be recovered.
I attached the required information. I inform you that I am currently testing build 18890.rs_prerelease and Second Life Release 6.2.1.526845 (64bit). DxDiag.txtinstall.txt

A hug!

Hi Kubbrick,

It seems like we've hit a wall with resolving this issue on your specific system with Second Life. While this report is a duplicate of BUG-202704 I had hoped we could resolve the issue with a workaround while we fix the Second Life viewer.

Thank you for your patience while we endeavor to resolve this issue. We hope to get a fix out in Release Candidate viewer soon.

Thanks!
