Create a sky using a sun &/or moon texture that has transparency.
eg) In the linked "Demo Video 1", I'm using the "Jupiter" texture from the Library as the moon texture.
View how the sun/moon interacts with hilly Linden terrain and objects like a sim surround when the sun/moon intersects the horizon.
Observed Behaviour
The sun/moon will render ontop of the terrain or objects if the sun/moon texture contains transparency.
Bug only reproduces when ALM is enabled. Shadows can be enabled or disabled.
See Demo Video 1 linked - location is viewing region Teskylation from region Testylvania Sandbox, using moon texture "Jupiter" from the Library.
Teskylation terrain textures are all defaults from the library.
The part of the terrain with the moon texture rendered on top is a blend of "Default Set - Base Dirt" and "Default Set - Base Grass".
These terrain textures contain no alpha.
It's a little difficult to reproduce at this location & you need to find the right camera angles to see it.
See Fig 2 attached.
You can view this exact scene by teleporting to http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Nuts%20Island/145/128/29
Make sure the viewer is set to use the shared environment.
Make sure draw distance is high enough to render the sim surround.
Cam up & look how both the sun & moon render on top of the sim surround object.
This location is very easy to reproduce at & you will see it from all camera angles.
There is no alpha in the textures on the sim surround for the faces that have the sun & moon rendered on top of them.
The sky setting used is available on request.
"BUG-226762 repro sky setting" - passed to Kyle, Alexa, Dan, Rider, Graham, Geenz.
Moon texture used is "Jupiter" from Library.
Sun texture is attached.
Expected Behaviour
The sun & moon should not render on top of the Linden terrain, sim surrounds or objects.
Other Information
Would it be possible to have the option of setting the sun & moon texture to alpha masking with mask cutoff setting too?
