Water the water reflected the stuff below the point the prim intersects the water upwards above the prim, resulting in weird reflections.
What were you doing when it happened?
I noticed this when logging in at my parcel for a while I thought it was just all misaligned and screwy until I realized the only prims that were displaying weird upwards pointing reflections were the pilings of my dock. I did an experiment with a fullbright prim.
Set windlight to midnight, get a nice darkwater so the reflections will show easily.
Make sure graphical options are set to reflect objects in water.
Rez a bright fullbright prim and hover it over the water see it's reflection in the water clearly.
NOw edit it's Z axis so it extends through the water plane while the top remains aboe it, the deeper you plunge into the water the more pronounced this becomes.
This also applies to avatars, get up to your neck in water and you'll see your legs reflected above your head.
What were you expecting to happen instead?
Object reflections ought to stop at the point where the object intersects the water.
Other information
Objects fully below the water plane behave perfectly fine in regards to reflections. It's only that fringe case of intersecting it.
[EEP] Water is reflecting things that intersect the waterplane weirdly.
