What just happened?

I was trying to play videos for our group, using either Parcel media or Prim media

What were you doing when it happened?

Regarding:
[CEF Dullahan] Shared Media - mp4 videos do not play over Google Drive
https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-224979

mp4 Video Playback no longer works (Media on a Prim)
https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-225210

Those 2 reports reported MP4 videos loaded on Google Drive, and using a simple player script, are not working on Parcel media or MOAP/Prim media, using the new version of the Second Life viewer (5.1.7).

I have also found the same problem using OneDrive, and without any script, on both Parcel media and Prim media

I and several others have tried Google Drive and OneDrive, without any scripts in the prims, on both Parcel media and Prim media, and get the same result "The video format is not supported. Try a different browser".

What were you expecting to happen instead?

The videos used to play fine on either Parcel media or Prim media

Other information

1: I thought it would be better to add this information to those bug reports rather than creating a new report, but I can't seem to find out how to add a comment to those.

2: Since I host videos, I have had to revert my viewer back to 5.0.11, so I'm able to make sure the videos are playing. I do have the 5.1.7 viewer installed for testing, however.

Hi StarWolf,

Thank you for the detailed report. This is definitely a duplicate of BUG-224979. It is clear that embedded .mp4 files are not working right now. We will likely not support this going forward, however there is an open investigation. We will try to provide updates either in BUG-224979 or in a blog post.

Thanks
