Linked to various blogs where Rift users are reporting these & other problems with the new Rift viewer.
Some of the issues are known (like the mouse cursor issue) - Aura filed bug reports in the RIFT project a few days ago for some of these. However the RIFT JIRA project is no longer publicly visible...

As noted in the link added by Whirly, I have documented the many issues and provided some screen shots for these issues at

http://blog.inf.ed.ac.uk/atate/2016/07/04/testing-second-life-oculus-rift-viewer-4-1-0-313313/

The problems in the new viewer occur with both DK2 and CV1, though in the CV1 there is an additional issue of the UI appearing flipped between eyes.

Turning off "Atmospheric Shaders" does let the transparent and partially transparent objects show. If that is on they don't show at all for objects in world or attachments.

I also can no longer see the RIFT JIRA which was where we previously provided feedback to the team.

David Rowe on his CtrlAltStudio blog on 13th July 2016 suggested…

From the descriptions of the rendering problems people have encountered with the LL Rift viewer, to me it seems like the image data is not successfully making its way through all the stages and branches of the graphics pipeline. Plus the culling frustum not being quite right.

I discovered the viewer was kinda usable if i set graphics to medium, turn off the UI or any HUDs from view, insure Advanced Lighting was off.
It still looked like garbage, colors washed out, textures all looking low rez and absolutely no control on the camera, but I could see and walk around. Of course I had to exit HUD mode to click on anything or sit, but it was still better then what I was getting with version 3 with the CR.

Robyn.. like you, I see the missing (all with transparency) objects and attachments if I set medium graphics level which has Advanced Lighting off and Atmospheric Shaders on.

It also works (even though for the same low res and bright HMD Mode view) with Medium graphics setting selected and then in the advanced settings turning Advanced Lighting on and atmospheric Shaders off.

BUT if you try turning both on at the same time all the transparent and partially transparent objects are not displayed.
