Please do not triage for two weeks. Give people time to comment. Thanks.

When SVC-2900 was resolved we finally got the means to block public rezzing of objects owned by anyone on the parcel banlist.
It was proposed to extend this feature to block rezzing of objects created by agents that are on the parcel banlist as well, but it was never acknowledged.

Problem

  • There is no way for a land owner to proactively restrict specific content from being rezzed on their public rez land. Anything is allowed to be rezzed.

  • Commonly known, available & distributed spam/laggers/crashers/combat HUD objects/weapon projectiles are abused on public rez land daily by agents who are not capable of creating the content them self.

  • Distributed spam/laggers/crashers are not blacklisted by Linden Lab when they ban the creator resulting in years of reoccurring abuse of the same assets.

  • Scripted security means currently have to devote overhead looking for this content and in some cases, once rezzed, unwanted content can crash guests or the sim or lag the sim enough to prevent detection or removal.

    Solution

  • Add a parcel setting to block rezzing of objects created or last owned by agents on the parcel banlist.

  • Additionally extend the parcel banlist list limit to 500 to facilitate the potential increase of entries.

    Benefits

Content is commonly associated with a creator or last owner, especially scripted rezzed content.
With this setting, land owners can proactively control for scenarios such as:

  • Rezzing of known creator adult content on General rated land.

  • Rezzing of known creator weapon projectiles over non-combat land.

  • Rezzing of known creator combat/attack HUD objects over land where they are prohibited.

  • Rezzing of known creator/last owner spammers/laggers/crashers.

    Additional Information

  • Just like with banned owner objects, this setting blocks rezzes from inventory to ground, scripted rezzes, attachment drops to ground, object parcel entry.

  • A specific system message will be returned with blocked rezzes similar to the one given for rez attempts on banned land.

  • This setting can be turned on/off by group members who have the "Parcel Settings>Toggle various About Land > Options settings" ability.

Comments welcome. Thanks in advance for any consideration.

i tested this on my land.
avatar A (manager) - avatar B (resident)

  1. avatar A banned avatar B
  2. avatar B successfully created and manipulated an object (to a certain degree. eg. i couldn't reposition it) inside the banned parcel.

i agree it's a very useful feature, that way it will completely stop griefers for further spamming a land. unless they come with another avatar, but that can be banned too :D

is it possible for the server to completely forbid banned avatars from touching/editing/manipulating/retexturing etc. objects inside the parcel they are banned ?

Unless you're a member of the group that owns the land, you shouldn't be able to rez on it if you are banned.

as a matter of fact both my avatars have the land group.
consider this scenario. if the group is deeded in multiple lands across several sims, and a user is banned only from a specific land, then the system wouldn't let him build (even if he is member of that group, like i was).

so what i think is :

-Lucia (manager) / Aaren (member of her group)

-the group 'Lucia's Home' is deeded on multiple parcels on several sims.

-Lucia (manager) banned Aaren only from her home parcel, but didn't ban him from other lands.

-Aaren can build and access other parcels on other sims, but can't build/access on the banned parcel.

do you understand what i'm thinking?

Group members can still rez on group owned land they are banned from if they have the ability, "Always allow 'Create Objects'" (BUG-5569).

It sounds like you either want them to not be allowed to rez on banned group land or for them not to be able to rez on any other group owned land if they are banned from at least one parcel. If that is the case you should file a feature request jira as it has nothing to do with the feature I am proposing in this jira.

I don't agree on the latter, but do agree on the former if said group member doesn't have a minimum of public prim return or banlist management ability.

As owner and manager of many public sandboxes over the years this would save me so much time that is wasted on banning alternate accounts using the same items passed from one to another not to mention filling my ban list (mind you it don't take long to get 300 bans on it)when all would be taken care of on the first ban. Seems like a no brainer!

As an owner of the Builders Brewery. We have both a sandbox, and a busy building school located on a G rated sim. We need this capability proposed.

While we already have tools in place keeping repeat offenders out, we can only do so much to prevent rezzing of certain prims made by certain people or last owner. Especially when they are handed over to a new resident who does not know any better.

Yes, griefing by proxy is another problem this feature can solve.

One of the best examples is the "..::ExDepart::.. Gift Package 2012" and "=[L4L]- Gestures & Walkers (Freebies) <3" inventory offer spam vector which depends on one person wearing/rezzing the host object, typically an unrelated freebie clothing item, which repeatedly offers an inventory copy of itself to everyone in the region which results in people accepting and rezzing the offered object which perpetuates the spam.

With this feature, the perpetuation vector would be shut down at the first instance preventing many others from falling victim to it.

That's a great example Lucia.
We still have lots of people coming to support about the Exdepart spam, that thing will just not die.
It's so bad, we have a wiki page specially for the Exdepart & L4L griefer objects: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/exdepart

Hi Lucia,
The team brought this one in minus the 500 meter ban list. Please remember to separate out individual feature requests.

Thanks!
