[BUG-11533] Paleoquest anti-cheating measures are too sensitive #1707
Comments
jodi.serenity commented at 2016-03-08T04:03:52Z I'm seconding this as an issue. I had a similar issue happen recently while playing PaleoQuest as well. I made it through the portal, though, and was walking through the entry area, when I received the following message:
Following that, I was teleported to a cage.
In my case, I'm not sure the PaleoQuest HUD ever auto-attached correctly - but I was able to make it all the way to the boarding platform of the monorail when I got force-teleported to the cage. My concern here is that there may be a bug with how sensitive the anti-cheat mechanisms are - and people are getting dinged, caught, and banned for no offense. There's some answers threads with this: |
Chaser Zaks commented at 2016-03-08T04:15:58Z Thirding, to add difficulty to the already really hard last quest, the anti-cheating scripts often think that getting off the boat onto the docks(which is done by a teleport script inside the boat) is some sort of movement enhancement system causing the quest to restart.

I received this message when taking the teleport that drops you off at the entrance to the train station: [11:22 PM] PaleoQuest No Fly Security: Please stop flying and disable whatever setting is making you fly, or you will be teleported home as soon as you try to move. I checked myself for any movement enhancing HUDs (sometimes I do wear a flight feather) but I had nothing of sort attached to either HUD or body. In the end it amounted to nothing, and I was able to move on from that location without incident. However, the warning should never have been triggered in the first place, seeing that I had no such attachment. I believe more tolerance should be added to whatever measures LL has in place to sense "cheating"; obviously they're much to rigid as they currently stand. Note: That was not my first run-in with the anti-cheating system. My first encounter was during the beached ship area of Paleoquest. I attempted to run across the sand to get to the ship, and was suddenly teleported back to the beginning and given a warning that I was suspected of using a movement enhancing tool. On that occasion I had no such HUD/tool attached. |
Steps to Reproduce
I was passing through the portal to the game in the Portal Park sim.
Actual Behavior
Upon trying to enter paleoquest I received this message:
YOU ARE WEARING AN OBJECT THAT IS TRYING, WITHOUT SUCCESS, TO PASS ITSELF OFF AS A GENUINE PALEOQUEST HUD. THIS BEHAVIOR IS ASSOCIATED WITH FRAUDULENT ATTEMPTS TO OBTAIN REWARDS IN THE GAME AND IS NOT TOLERATED. YOU HAVE BEEN BANNED FROM PALEOQUEST.
Expected Behavior
I expected to enter the paleoquest entrance, so I could play paleoquest
Other information
I'm not wearing a fraudulent HUD. The HUDS I had on at the time were:
maitreya mesh body HUD
Logos Mesh head customization HUD
Hug and Kiss Deluxe
Oracul Pure Lady AO
I filed support ticket #02291872 and it was closed saying I was using a fraudulent HUD. I wasn't using any such device. I can only assume that the PaleoQuest anti-cheating mechanisms are too sensitive, and I'm filing a bug, as I don't know what else to do.
