Steps to Reproduce

  • Login on http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Project_Bento/5.0.0.309171 to a region on Aditi which recognises the new attachment points, for example Mesh Sandbox 1.

  • Observe impostered avatars wearing mesh rigged to the new Bento joints.

  • Avatar Imposter settings can be found under Preferences -> Graphics -> Advanced.

    • Avatar Imposters check box - enable this.
    • Max # non-imposter avatars - set this to 1 so that only the avatar closest to your camera is a non-imposter.
  • Compare how Bento avatars look when viewed as an imposter & as a non-imposter.

    Observed Behaviour

  • It seems that anything rigged to the new Bento joints either partly disappears, collapses or melts when viewing that avatar as an imposter.

  • There was a guy on aditi with a mesh head using the new bones & his head melted when viewed as an imposter. This was at ground level.

  • See Fig 1 attached.
This gif shows the effect with the bento_angel.dae test content.
Observe how the wings & tail get clipped when the avatar becomes an imposter. The wings actually flicker quite badly when the avatar is an imposter but the flicker is too fast to show on the gif.

    Expected Behaviour

Mesh rigged to the new Bento joints should not be so glitchy when viewing that avatar as an imposter.

Using viewer Second Life 5.0.0.315657 (Second Life Project Bento) you can see the problem in this video.
https://youtu.be/6KZ2XNxAE88?t=31m44s

You will see clipping of the horses and dragon between 32 and 40 minute marks.
