Steps to Reproduce

I was simply Role Playing in a sim called Crack Den, nothing was going on, and suddenly I spam local chat with my posts. 2-20.. it's very random.. :

Actual Behavior

I was just playing SL, like any other day. Then suddenly out of nowhere I spam local, group and IM chat with the same post, randomly, sometimes 2 times, sometimes 20 times. I tried re-installing SL, I tried clearing cashe and installing an older version but nothing worked. I even tried other accounts, but they are fine, this bug ONLY appears on this account, Mina Ashby. I'm almost afraid it's been hacked or something... please help! I also tried to detach everything. That didn't work either.

Expected Behavior

Uhm, that it doesn't do it?

I have talked with Mina Ashby in-world about this, it indeed is a unusual thing to happen.
Since it only occurs in a particular group of regions and for only the user, I have made a guess this may be duplicate keys inside the simulator's internal agent list and that there may be no failsafe checking of duplicate keys, as such results in repeated actions such as Group messaging, Teleports and Chat.

Also the simulator has been up for 2 whole weeks(301 hours, UTS 1448366600), which is rather unhealthy for a simulator.

Packet checking via wireshark shows each message contains the exact same data(Except packet order number).

Hi Mina and Chaser, I see that Mina has a couple of instances where the IMs have been sent multiple times. Particularly on 12/6.
Could you try reproducing the issue on a Second Life Viewer. In particular I have seen the multiple IMs happening on Hathian.

Further info from testing with Mina inworld:

  • All her alts have the same problem on the affected regions.

  • Reproduces on all viewers.

  • We tried the following, which did not help at all:

    • Set maximum bandwidth down to 50
    • Disabling HttpPipelining
    • Set TextureFetchConcurrency and Mesh2MaxConcurrentRequests to 2.

    Settings all reset to default & LL viewer logs will follow.

Another strange thing - Past cases I've seen where chat has duplicated like this because of some network wonkiness, the affected person will see the duplicated posts in nearby chat, IM chat & group chat, as well as observers seeing them.

In Mina's case, she sees her chat duplicated in Nearby chat but not in IM chat.
When we were in IM, she only saw her posts once when I saw them repeated many times when she was on an affected region.

When her posts duplicate in my IM, the viewer keeps giving her this message:

This really does seem to only happen on certain regons too. When Mina was on unaffected regions, there was not even a single duplicated post within quite lengthly conversations.
When she is on an affected region, each IM post she sent me was duplicated 10-15 times without fail.

There must be something all those affected regions have in common - but I can't see what it is.

Also, I re-installed Windows. Formatted my disk, and put Windows 7 on again. To no avail, as well. So it's not software related on my end.

This seems like somehow the network is re-sending packets, but that's a guess.

Please confirm that you have tried this with the Linden viewer and still see the problem. Your report lists Firestorm and we need you to try it with the latest Linden download to confirm it's not an issue there.

Mina did test with default LL release viewer.
Her log is attached from a session where she reproduced this problem on Second Life 3.8.6 (305981).

Yes, I even have tested many things with Caleb Linden yesterday, we tried different viewers, alts, he reset an affected sim and that did not help either. Today, I am going to try to borrow a laptop and connect it to another net, then to my own and see what happens.. :)

I have borrow a PC from my dad, here, it works perfectly .. I am currently trying to install a new LAN card into my own PC and see if that works..
I have connected this PC to my own network. So, it looks like it is not Internet related, broken cable. But a broken LAN card, mine was on board, so I am replacing it and see how it turns out..

SOLVED - I have bought a new LAN card, the old one was faulty (Onboard Lan card)
