Steps to Reproduce

  • Delete settings folder so all settings are on defaults.

  • Note that on default settings, under Preferences -> General, both "Usernames" and "View Display Names" are ticked.

  • Avatar A post an emote in Nearby chat, eg) /me is testing.

  • Avatar B observe name format of emote in the chat toast and in chat history.

  • Repeat the last 2 steps for an emote sent by Avatar A in IM to Avatar B & in a group chat.

    Observed Behaviour

When Usernames & display names are enabled, sending an emote in Nearby chat, IM or group chat...

  • In the chat toast the emote prints in the format: Display Name is testing
    https://image.prntscr.com/image/kDjOD5vYTmyq7NuntSgqpw.png

  • In chat history, the emote prints in the format: Display Name (Username) is testing
    https://image.prntscr.com/image/ylCThwi3QD_aCbCQhC5NDA.png

  • Same results are seen when chat is set to Compact View (V1 style chat headers) & Expanded View (V5 style chat headers).

    Expected Behaviour

  • The name formats should be the same in the chat toasts & in chat history.

  • For emotes the preferred behaviour from users seems to be to only show the display name in emotes in both chat toasts & chat history - this is going by the complaints that Firestorm had about this behaviour.
