Second Life Issues

Welcome to the issue tracker for Second Life!

PJIRA is a tool for residents to file bug reports and new features requests. The "P" stands for Public. A more in depth look into PJIRA and the how-to's can be found here.

Having a problem but not sure if it's a bug? Don't know where to go to get a quick answer to a question or problem? See Second Life Answers.

PJIRA is not for technical support, so please do not enter issues which would require a response tailored to your individual situation. Examples include:

Contact Support for time-sensitive issues specific to your individual Second Life account.

NOTICE (2010.02.09)

You may notice a new message on JIRA tickets about worklogs. We have added this field to track issues internally, this will have no impact on your capability to log and update issues.

Ready to Begin?

First, please use the Quick Search feature to verify if there’s already an issue opened for this issue before submitting a new one. The Quick Search button can be found in the top right corner of the site. If you find one that covers you issue, please add your comments, experience there instead of opening a duplicate issue. Duplicate issues make it slower for us to review unique issues.

Didn’t find your issue?

So you’ve searched PJIRA and you can’t find what you’re looking for? You may be the first person to experience this or have a new idea! It’s time to open a new PJIRA. Not sure how to do this? The video below will help you navigate your way through your first report.

Important things to remember

  • Your Computer Environment – This provides us with a wealth of information from whether it’s runs Windows, Mac, Linux; how much memory you have and what type of Video card you are using. Not sure where to get this? It’s easy! Whether you’re at the login screen or inworld, just go to Help menu > About Second Life. There, you will see all the details of your machine. You can highlight this info and paste it into the “Computer Environment” field when filing your PJIRA.

  • “Just the facts Ma’am” – It’s very frustrating when something doesn’t work the way we expect it! Linden Lab wants to know what you are experiencing. Please use the Description field to give us a detailed step-by-step account of what you are seeing/experiencing/requesting. Does this happen every time you’re inworld? Does this happen on every sim you visit? What were you doing when you experienced this?

  • Checking back to your PJIRAs – Too often, people file reports and forget about them. Sadly, they often miss follow up questions, suggestions and input from other users. Since PJIRA is tied to the same email account as your Second Life account, when there is activity on your issue, you will be notified. Please check in from time to time and let us know if anything’s changed for you.

  • Reporting a bug is like giving street directions. If a friend can follow them, it’s likely we can too!
