 Description  « Hide
Send the creators of the entries on the old feature voting tool as well the bug reports the info they had on the old stuff so they can repost them on jira if desired.

Also, if possible, send a msg to the people that voted on the stuff as well letting them know it is going to be placed on jira (or some other procedure to let them know where to go to vote again on the thing).

Cleaned up a few minor typos. Linking to relevant JIRA issues for a more complete picture.

If this is implemented, will probably have to be done manually to prevent duplicates, as some old FVT issues have been manually entered by users here in JIRA.

TigroSpottystripes, the "bug thing" already sends you automatic messages signed by Milo Linden that tell you that your bug report is "outdated* (i.e. the Lindens did nothing with it) and if it is still operative, you can go refile it on the JIRA.

Nothing like that was done with the FVT, but it strikes me that it is not a substitute for my concerns addressed in WEB-399.

What's needed is not to fold the FVT into the JIRA, but to take the FVT out of the JIRA, as the JIRA is unsuitable.

As Web-399 notes, the old FVT, whatever its faults, had:

o simple, clearcut interface with just a name and a box
o simple dashboard
o consent respected, i.e. no closing of one resident's issue by another
o more participation as can be seen by many, many more votes on the issues than are ever found on JIRA
o commenting linked to forums and third-party sites so as to keep the vote in a clear field without numerous killer comments (or for that matter, supportive comments mobbed in by a small group)
o unfortunately, during the Great Angel Fluffy Culling, a number of important issues got cut out and sanctioned by busy Lindens so that the authors won't even get any notifications (and didn't then, unless AF informed them).

Notification is great as a very minimal civic response to the destruction of democracy and user content inherent in the killing of the FVT, but it's not enough to resurrect the functioning tool again in a meaningful way.

Hi! I earlier did send out a notification email to the effect of "send a msg to the people that voted on the stuff as well letting them know it is going to be placed on jira", so that got done.

I also emailed & IMed a lot of Residents personally and encouraged them to migrate their FVT issues to this Issue Tracker months ago.

Anyone who needs to look up old FVT info can do so here:

Resolving as "Won't Finish" based on the summary – since the desired implementation is unfeasible – altho some of this actually was finished.

Torley, I'm sorry, I have no recollection of receiving such notifications :/

that archived version doesn't seem to work all that well, for example, I can't log in to get all the stuff I proposed, and the search doesn't work either :/
