cite from secondlife.com/account/billing.php:
"Linden Lab accepts payments through PayPal that are funded from a bank account, Switch or Solo card, <b>or a PayPal balance.</b>" But when clicking the PayPal button and logging into your PayPal account, PayPal will ask you for you CC data, even if you PayPal balance is more than what you plan to pay to LL. PayPal won't do that for purchases from most other PayPal enabled webshops/vendors/whatever. So how is this to be handled? Bugging a volunteer on HI can't be the answer, I guess. (I'm one of them and can't answer this. I'm even having the same problem myself.) Also there seems to be no appropriate support-ticket type usable by Basic Members:
Further this looks like a general issue (and as the system responds different than expected, a bug), rather than an individual support issue. I'll therefor reopen this issue after I've formalized it a bit.
How can I move this issue to the WEB Project on Jira? Boroondas: a Linden needs to do it.
Yeah, I have the same problem. I have a VERIFIED checking account with PayPal, but don't have (don't WANT) a paypal credit card. 2nd life/paypal AGREEMENT was ACCEPTED. Yet, when I try to buy Linden$, I get an error. No forum for reporting the error either. I DID try calling their help line, but the person in India couldn't understand English. If 2nd life is not going to accept PayPal Verified Bank E-checks, THEN THEY NEED TO SAY SO.
Help! I don't even see the option to use Paypal and I want to do so rather than use my credit card - and i want to do this for land fees for my son's account on the teen grid as well.
First, updating credit card info: why do i have to delete the info - why can't i just view it? I don't understand what is wrong with this system. it's just not working. For those who are unable to get a CC, you can always get a pre-paid debit/credit card that works the same way. Instead of using my standard credit card, I use a pre-paid debit card to handle all online transactions. Ebay/Paypal and SL are on the debit card.
Thanks a lot for providing additional info with a repro (w00t Boroondas!) which helped us substantiate and investigate a broader problem.
I'll share that Kip Linden has been working on this, and we intend to provide a more helpful wording specifying that you need a VERIFIED PayPal account – see attached image. UPDATE: I have a verified PayPal account linked to SL and it works without error (although very slowly) and I have NO CREDIT CARD at all never mind linked to PayPal.
I would safely say that this is a dead issue. |
