When trying to create a new account, having clicked in from http://teen.secondlife.com/ to https://secure-web0.secondlife.com/join/

put in name [confirmed], birthday, email address twice, hit [continue]

You come to the page https://secure-web0.secondlife.com/join/index.php but now it has all this stuff:

====

Second Life Registration: Select a Community

Join a Community

Want to meet someone interesting? Communities are a great way to meet other like-minded Residents. Feel at home in a welcoming social environment. Thousands of real-life friendships, romances, and business partnerships have started in Second Life. Below are a few communities you can join today. Take a look, pick one, and start exploring Second Life with some ready-made friends. If you would like to start on Linden Lab's Orientation Island, click the "Skip This Step" button, or just take me to Linden Lab's Orientation Island.

====

All options but "Voice Beta SL" are greyed out. (May I say parenthetically that greying out main grid communities is a bad way to deal with this for the teens. The first thought is, "Why am I getting locked out of Ben & Jerry's?")

Neither the [just take me to...] link nor the [skip this step] button work. They both send you (back?) to the page https://secure-web0.secondlife.com/join/index.php/Choose-Name which prompts for new account name/birthday/email again.

But the name chosen still shows as available – confirmed on https://secure-web0.secondlife.com/join/namecheck.php?fn=XXXXXXX&ln=5300 where XXXXXXX is the chosen first name

So you can't get a teen grid account. It doesn't work. It's kinda loopy.

(I'm trying to set my 14 year old son up with an account, btw)

Meant to mention, we didn't get any confirmation email at any reasonable point after trying this on my son's email either.

I have been trying to sign both of my teens up for over 10 days now, using our families various emails, and I also have never had the confirmation email, but the sign up process ran 100% correct.

~Cerri & 1 teen who has chosen now, not to play at all, and 1 that is still ticked off and frustrated!!!!

Same issue with BF's kid ... It acts like it has created the account, the name is no longer available, the PayPal "agreement" shows up in PayPal ... but there is NO confirmation email and no way to log on.

It's waaaay easier for teens to create an unverified account on the adult grid than an account where they are supposedly wanted!

Well I have been trying to sign my two kids up for premium accounts for over six months now. My sister is also trying to sign up her two kids.

At first we didn't get the confirmation email but now it's even worse........they ask for verification method choice, and the only one is mobile phone, but there is no SMS providers listed. You try and put the phone number in anyway and get an error message.

The not-very-sure sounding UK support team say it's a known issue and they are working to fix it, but surely some message on the page to that effect would save so much frustration.

Apart from the revenue and goodwill LindenLabs are losing, I suppose it's not good PR to admit that they are unable to sign up ANY new teen accounts from the UK

I assume it's just the UK, as I spoke to someone on SL who says their kids signed up ok from the States last Saturday.

Totally frustrating experience.

Have you already solved this issue?
The same thing is happening to me!

I've been told that this is because I tried to register my son's account from my computer, and that LL has it set up to refuse registrations for the teen grid from a computer that already has an adult registered???

LL, please confirm or deny? This is really lame, since you are cutting off teens who share computers with their folks. It's undocumented, and hasn't been responded to for MONTHS.

If you are really worried about teens getting accounts on the main grid, maybe you should worry about how hard you make it for them to register on the teen grid, eh?

Trying to create new account for my daughter, but the Registration page allows us to create her name, says it's available, then returns with a message "Submit a valid Second Life name". The same last name is still available when we check, we re-input the information, it still shows that the name is available, but we can't get past the input name page. Is there some super sekrit workaround to get teens signed up for their Second Life?

I too have had this issue. I am trying to create an account for my teenager and it will not allow me. Please fix this issue or direct us to a link to solve this problem. Thank you

angelique waydelich, it is not just the UK, its also in Canada that we cannot sign up for the TG (i needed to make an alt for something).

There was an issue with accounts being created outside of the US as posted in WEB-734. That problem has now been fixed.

Is anyone still having issues registering?
