There is something terribly wrong with my hair. I searched for hair, but could not find anything. When you look at it, chunks seem to be missing, as if a mad barber has attacked my head. I think it is somehow related to it being transparent, and things b...

Thanks for this report Ezi. Does the bug with your hair happen all the time, or do parts of your hair disappear but then reappear later when you move the camera around. This may be part of the bug VWR-8920.... check the snapshots there and see if they describe your problem.

Alternately, can you attach a screenshot to this issue, so that we can better observe the behavior you are describing?

Here you can see the hair never goes away, but the order in which it is rendered is all messed up.

I looked at VWR-8920, but this is not the same. The hair never goes away. It looks like the order in which the layers are being rendered is getting all scrambled up. I have tried going back to the old driver for the GeForce GC, because that fixed the thing where my socks go to my waist, and my shirt and gloves are all one piece, but it doesn't help with this.
I have tried every viewer there is, the RC, and both GC drivers, and I still get this
This started when the 1.19 changed to 1.20.

Ezi, this article in Knowledge Base has some suggestions that might help

Knowledge Base > Second Life Info > Second Life for Beginners > Why do textures sometimes look messed up? Topic #: 4051-4322

http://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4417&task=knowledge&questionID=4322

Also, please check to see if you have a graphics driver from the Nvidia 177 or 178 series.

There are known avatar rendering issues for these driver versions:

  • VWR-7957 (Clothing skinning error on nVidia)
  • VWR-9358 (Texture rendering problem Nvidia 178.13 release drivers)

The following workaround has been reported:

  • Enable the Advanced Menu (Ctrl-Alt-D)
  • Disable rendering of Palletized Textures (Ctrl-Alt-F7)
  • Rebake (Ctrl-Alt-R)
    • Please note: It may take a little bit for the server to refresh your baked textures if there are lots of avatars around or the region is laggy. Future versions of the viewer will have this fixed and not require these steps every time you log in.

If either VWR-7957 and VWR-9358 matches your issue, please add your comments/vote.

If this workaround doesn't resolve your issue, please run the DirectX Diagnostic Tool

XP: Click on the Start button and select Run. In the Open text box. Enter "dxdiag" and click OK > Save All Information.

Please attach the text file to this issue.

Please also see VWR-27 Prim textures overlap strangely when transparent textures applied

Thank you : )

Ran the DX Diag. Everything checked out. Starting to look like VWR-27, which is not good for me, because it tsays this is something that cannot be fixed, and just happens in 3D. Odd, because I have owned this hair for some time, and it wasn't like that before.

This is definitely VWR-27
