 Description  « Hide
Bought new clothings and just weared them, when the skin of my head (only the head) went darker skinned and ears changed from normal, small to big and spicky.
Also new Stockings worn as pants are totally black.
This happend when was at SeCoNd LiFeStYlE RoMan, Senna (78, 209, 27) into the shop.

All of the following did not help:

(1) Changing back to clothings I have worn before and making character rebake.
(2) Clearing cache, shut down SL-Client, restarting, doing character rebake.
(3) Teleporting to another sim, doing point (1) and (2). Doing same in edit appearance mode, naked and wearing clothings.
(4) Clothing all HUDs and doing character rebake.

After all of this stil the skin of my head is much darker than rest of body, ears are big and spicky and legs all black.

It looks likely that you have an NVIDIA graphics card with version 177 or 178 drivers.

There are known avatar rendering issues for these driver versions:

  • VWR-7957 (Clothing skinning error on nVidia)
  • VWR-9358 (Texture rendering problem Nvidia 178.13 release drivers)
  • VWR-8261 (With some clothes, viewer renders buttocks and legs totally white)

The following workaround has been reported:

  • Enable the Advanced Menu (Ctrl-Alt-D)
  • Disable rendering of Palletized Textures (Ctrl-Alt-F7)
  • Rebake (Ctrl-Alt-R)

You can also revert to NVIDIA 175.19 drivers to see if this resolves your issue.

I'm marking this issue as a duplicate.

Please look at VWR-7957, VWR-9358 and VWR-8261 and add your comments/vote to whichever you feel most closely matches your issue.
If, you feel this is NOT the same as any of these issues, please re-open it using the link on the left, and add a comment explaining why.

After hours found a temporary solution:
Went back to XP, wearing all the clothings I have worn before this all happend and found out:
New Shoes made legs black.
"Old" normally worn Eyebrows made head dark.

It was running fine with new Nvidia-Driver 178.13 what was installed 30.9.08
Problem occured when was changing clothings first time with new, must have SL-Client - installed 7.10.08.
Telling me 7 days SL with new driver was ok. But then first time changing clothings with new SL-Client got the problems.
At the moment I cant change without troubles come back. So will wait or reinstall SL.
Cause somebody told me this can help too.
Also many people told me, they got strange things like I have since Update of SL-Client.
So I see the problem in new client and not in Nvidia-Driver. Also going back to old drivers is not a solution, cause also other sofware has to run on this computer here.
By the way, I saw SL did not see my Core 2 is a Quad CPU, in other tickets it seems SL saw it is a Quad - dont know if this is important.

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS and the problem just appeared recently when I upgraded my driver to version 7.15.11.7824. The middle section of most of my skins would turn black.
