These settings are not possible in the new Windlight viewer that users are required to download: The sunrise setting in the old viewer does not exist in the Windlight viewer, and even with atmospheric shaders turned off, getting the lighting to appear as in the old viewer does not work.

While I love using windlight for landscape/building photography, this effectively renders SL useless for detailed avatar photography, among many other things. Also, requiring a Windlight viewer may disable SL access for many people.

Once again, I love Windlight, but it simply does not work with avatar skins. A simple solution would be to have defaults disable windlight settings on avatars. Or to have the pre-Windlight viewer available.

It is my understanding that 1.19 is no longer supported.

For SL to grow and improve the technology that it relies upon has to improve too, LL cannot indefinitely support older, antiquated, hardware. LL is by no means mandating that the users must use the new viewers just that for the users safety they should not use the old clients. If the community wants to update these older clients they are welcome to use the client source code LL has provided.

I'm thinking this issues should be closed seeing as the effected branches are no longer supported.

Hi Strife, as of earlier today, LL is indeed mandating the upgrade. The 1.19 viewer, which was once an alternative for those who either prefer not to use Windlight for specific applications, or cannot use Windlight, is now no longer allowed access to the grid. Please see the link cited in the original Description.

I'd beg to differ on the newer viewer being an improvement on many levels, but since you mentioned support should not be given for antiquated systems, I should mention this: The bug actually affects people with the latest operating systems - the Windlight viewer has a horrible memory leak on Windows Vista x64 (see my system specs). Walking about just a single sim would usually result in crashing. Standing still and not moving actually results in ~300kb/s increase in memory load!

The simplest solution is really to build a 1.19 or non-Windlight version with the exploit patch!

Strife, I'd agree with you except for the fact that LL is not just not supporting the older viewers they have now made it impossible to use older viewers which is the exact opposite of supporting them, the are in effect banning anything not based off the latest viewer.

Tuesday evening, I was holding someone's hand, as he struggled to turn windlight off. He's a Noob, who'd never heard the term Windlight, but someone had set him up with the 1.19.0, and the forced upgrade to 1.20 was destroying his graphics card.
Part of the problem, is that Linden Labs doesn't think of Windlight as being the whole of the upgrade, for 1.19.1, so the problems of Camera Smoothing, Camera Transition Time, and Avatar Imposters tend to get ignored, but Windlight is a lot of trouble, and I'd like a non-windlight viewer, that still uses Mono. I'm likely to learn JAVA over this.
Last night, I found the light I wear, on my head, was bleaching out the floor, under full sun, for a windlight user, almost as though it'd set Glow too high, for a section of the floor.
The Windlight Team also tried to Improve the experience, making the world too dark, and there's some ambient light setting that needs to be dug up.
It's time to go back, to calling it Windlaugh.

As Strife said above, because of a security update, 1.19 is no longer supported - http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2008/10/06/post275/

The following link does offer some solutions for adjusting your graphics settings. http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/04/11/tip-of-the-week-30-graphics-preferences-guide/

Also, http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/04/11/1191-office-hours-4-hours-of-fun/ includes past conversations on 1.19 and settings.

Unfortunately, being that 1.19 will not be supported going forward, I am marking this as won't fix.
