 Description  « Hide
Upon wearing pants, even glitch pants under a skirt, they cover the entire legs and feet. Many time wearing a shirt with sleeves will enduce the same effect over the entire surface of the avatar, including the hands and legs. It causes an annoying look to the avatar, producing a body-suit-like appearance. This occurs no matter where I am in world and has happened since the last two patches. I have also spoken with a couple of friends who are enduing this same issue.

I'm also having the same issue when I wear gloves.
Also when I wear a jacket it makes my pants white and like a body suit.
I've tried reinstalling SL and different versions and still doing it.

Rhiannon & Shon, are you using a Nvidia graphics driver from the 177 & 178 series? The main issues are VWR-7957 & VWR-8261. Please add your vote and comments to those issues.

The workaround for 177 series drivers is to

enable the Advanced Menu Ctl - Alt - D

disable rendering palletized textures: rendering > features > palletized textures Ctl - Alt - F7

and then rebake Ctl - Alt - R

You may need to do this everytime you login.

You can also revert to Nvidia 175.19 drivers to see if this resolves your issue.

Thank you

Ta. I followed your suggestion and it seemed to help the clothing becoming a body suit issue, but my arms appear now like long, pulled out sleeves. I'll try to switch drivers. Aye, this is an Nvidia issue.

I tried your suggestion a few more times, Ella and it works. I do have to do it each time I login, but that's not a problem and at least I can wear clothes normally again! Thank you!

This issue should not have been resolved as "Fixed".

It looks likely that you have an NVIDIA graphics card with version 177 or 178 drivers.

There are known avatar rendering issues for these driver versions:

  • VWR-7957 (Clothing skinning error on nVidia)
  • VWR-9358 (Texture rendering problem Nvidia 178.13 release drivers)
  • VWR-8261 (With some clothes, viewer renders buttocks and legs totally white)

The following workaround has been reported:

  • Enable the Advanced Menu (Ctrl-Alt-D)
  • Disable rendering of Palletized Textures (Ctrl-Alt-F7)
  • Rebake (Ctrl-Alt-R)

I'm marking this issue as a duplicate.

Please look at VWR-7957, VWR-9358 and VWR-8261 and add your comments/vote to whichever you feel most closely matches your issue.
If, you feel this is NOT the same as either of these issues, please re-open it using the link on the left, and add a comment explaining why.
