 Description  « Hide
I know this was an issue with the 177 beta drivers for Nvidia and Second Life. However, it still seems to be a problem with the actual standard release ones that came out on 25 September. Shoe bases and some textures (such as the bottoms of jeans) render wacky, as in they show extra textures that shouldnt be there. On boot bases, it will show the base riding all the way up your leg.

Note:

Disabling rendering palletized textures: advanced menu > rendering > features > palletized textures

Ctl - Alt - F7 and then rebake (Ctl - Alt - R)

Does not fix this issue when it applies to the bottom of jeans/pants/etc

Neize, does the workaround mentioned in VWR-7957 work for the Nvidia 178.13 drivers ?

Disabling rendering palletized textures: advanced menu > rendering > features > palletized textures

Ctl - Alt - F7 and then rebake (Ctl - Alt - R)

Thank you

neize Caudron added a comment - 27/Sep/08 01:26 PM
Thanks for the reply Ellla, I tried it, no go. I get the same problem this guy is having in the other issue thread:

Harrison Lewsey - 27/Sep/08 10:53 AM
The workaround that Chalice posted only fixes the texture filling. When I wear shorts before turning palletized textures off, then from where the shorts end just below my knees, it would be black. Turn palletized textures off, it shows the correct textures, although when you look at the ankle, it has the shape of pants i.e. it looks like I'm wearing pants, just that part of my legs are skin colour.

Markus Lewsey added a comment - 28/Sep/08 05:26 PM
Here is what I've discovered with the same issue (using the Sept. 26th SL release and the 178.13 Nvidia Drivers).

Shoe and Glove textures appear to cover the entire lower body and torso repectively. This only happens if the glove length/pants length is being used to produce the "Alpha" effect of the texture. A texture with an Alpha included in the texture appears to work fine (i.e. shoes that are only "foot shapers" and gloves that have alphas in the texture to cut off the glove length).

The work around of disabling palletized rendering as stated in the previous bug report does appear to work. However, the need to rebake happens everytime a later is worn over the shoe/glove layer.

I have all the same issues with this latest Nivida graphics driver update.

This issue isn't assigned yet and until a soloution is found on LL side I have reinstalled the Nvidia graphic driver 175.19 version. Its a fix until LL Dev's find one.

Unfortunately, Panther Miklos didnt "reintstall" 175.19 version correctly and they failed to mention their running on Vista? The older verson graphics card for windows XP does work. You just have to go through the "complete" steps of making sure 175.19 is re-installed and the newer one 178.13 having the issues with SL is removed. This IS a working work around fix for WinXP.

Phli Foxchase added a comment - 03/Oct/08 05:51 AM
Same bug as VWR-7957
Please vote for it.

Thank's

Incorrectly resolved.

Disabling rendering palletized textures and rebaking helped me when my face get darkbrown under Vista 64 SP1 and XP prof. SP3 with 8800GTX.
Hoping LL can fix this in SL-Client so we all can use newest NVidia-Drivers also for SL.

Panther Miklos added a comment - 11/Oct/08 08:19 AM
I had/have the same issue. Having worked on this issue with another resident prior to this regarding a different graphic system, I knew all the fixes. I rolled back to the 175 version driver, and it was not a fix (though I have the 6k version card, not the 8k card). I had the issue in both the newest release (mandated) viewer and the release candidate. The only fix that is working is the "turning off of the rendering pallitized textures."
You might want to keep that in mind, with any release above the 1.19(5), residents will have this issue regardless of which driver (nvidia) they are using. At least I can wear my boots and shorts now.

Chantal Balut added a comment - 12/Oct/08 07:13 AM
The texture problem occured when I was in Vista64 with 178.13 driver. So changed back to XP32 with 175.19 Driver and it still was there.
All clearing cache and rebaking did not help, also have changed to another sim to do clearing cache and rebake.
At the end had to Disabling rendering palletized textures under XP Prof. 32-bit with Nvidia Driver 175.19.
So I am confused now - it does not seems to be a Driver-issues only. Also Vista64 with 178.13 was running fine with SL for the first 7 Days this driver was installed.

Zombie Pye added a comment - 17/Oct/08 08:27 AM
I'm having this same problem and am running on a nearly identical system, save for I'm running on Vista 32 bit. Enabling the Advanced Menu (Ctrl-Alt-D), Disable rendering of Palletized Textures (Ctrl-Alt-F7), and Rebake (Ctrl-Alt-R) did not work.

harper beresford added a comment - 17/Oct/08 11:07 AM
I concur with Richard Noonan. I also had to roll back to 175 and that solved it for now. But we are starting to see problems with it and customers complaining with our business, and they are not always savvy about graphics drivers.

I hope LL can get this addressed soon

Ethari Hallstrom added a comment - 18/Oct/08 03:58 PM
Alexa Linden, why was this incorrectly resolved? As Phli Foxchase has said, this is a duplicate of VWR-7957 so I do not see why this isn't resolved as Duplicate. I can't see any differences between the issues and I don't understand why both of them have been assigned. As the issue states, it is a duplicate.

Please can you explain as I was tempted to set this as Resolved - Duplicate until I saw your comment.

Siobhan McCallen added a comment - 18/Oct/08 04:30 PM
This is NOT a duplicate, as it is not affected by deactivating palletized textures. I've done that, and I still have what looks like flesh-colored bell-bottoms. I've taken off the shoe bases, so it isn't that.

This is some kind of mesh rendering issue, which is different from the palletized texture bug.

Siobhan McCallen added a comment - 18/Oct/08 04:32 PM
Here's a picture of my "unintended bellbottoms", below a pair of UK Couture pants. The pants are no-mod, so I can't shorten them.

Suzanna Soyinka added a comment - 19/Oct/08 12:50 PM
I had the same issues here in regards to the use of an Nvidia 200 series graphics card using the 171.x driver version. Any socks worn immediately became waist length pants. Issue was confirmed as a viewer based bug by Spike Linden when it was occuring.

I uninstalled my 200 series card and reinstalled my 8800 GT and have not seen the issue since.

Would be nice if this was fixed by the 28th. I've sorta got.......plans...for that card.

neize Caudron added a comment - 20/Oct/08 02:24 PM
Removed the notice that this issue duplicated another one (it does not). Also clarified the issue under description as well as upping the priority to "critical." I think this issue merits more of a look than normal. I can't wear a large portion of my pants because of it. The only way to work around the "bell bottom" pants is to wear boots over them or leg warmers, which is just a pain.

Concord beattie added a comment - 22/Oct/08 12:27 PM

I'm definitely suffering from this issue exactly. I've played around a bit and found these things. If after you login you've worn before or are wearing when you disable Palletized Textures a certain pair of pants, then the shape of the pants will remain, causing the flesh-colored shorts and pants-cuffs. If, on the other hand, you change to a pair of pants you haven't worn after disabling Palletized Textures, then the pants take the proper shape. The textures are fixed in both cases by a rebake, to be clear, but in the first case the shape of the pants is not fixed. I did this test using sets of pants known to cause the problem with Palletized Textures enabled. I don't know if it will be any help, but I hope someone smarter than me can make some sense of that.

This is Definatly and issue that needs to be resolved. Makes having professional wedding photo donea nighmare I submit that issues like this should be resolved and bugs worked out PRIOR to forcing updates on us. Paying as much as some of us do on this game it seems those in charge would be a little more carefull with testing the updates before making it required to download them.

nyx linden added a comment - 27/Oct/08 08:04 AM
Related to clothing skinning bug (VWR-7957), this issue no longer reproduces when palletized texture support is removed. Unfortunately the workaround for 7957 (disabling palletized textures manually and rebaking) does not correct this error. Fix is committed internally and is currently on track to be tested and released with the first Release Candidate for 1.22 if the testing goes well. Thanks for your patience, we hope to have 1.22 rolled out soon.

Same problems here, sometimes the Crtl/Alt/F7 then Ctrl/Alt/R works, but overall fails more than it succeeds.

Angus Boyd added a comment - 03/Nov/08 12:57 PM
NVIDIA drivers 178.x obviously changed the exported OpenGL functions which are related to palletized textures and this eventually revealed a bug in the viewer which seems to be there since a long time already.

It is actually just a small typo in "void LLGLManager::initExtensions()"

The line:
mHasPalettedTextures = glh_init_extension("GL_EXT_paletted_texture");
needs to get changed to:
mHasPalettedTextures = glh_init_extensions("GL_EXT_paletted_texture");

Please note the minor difference: The original code invokes the function "glh_init_extension" (without a trailing 's') which does not check the OpenGL extension strings for existence of the palletized textures feature. The fixed code invokes the function "glh_init_extensions" (with a trailing 's') which checks the OpenGL extension strings for existence of the feature and initializes the function pointers.

I am sure you already did find this anyway. I just posted it in case you are going to disable that feature for NVIDIA cards with some other workaround.

Regards

Maggie Darwin added a comment - 03/Nov/08 01:23 PM
I'm thinking Angus's observation above should put to rest any further referring to this problem and the other "palletized textures" problems as being "the result of an nVidia driver bug".

I just have to wonder how the heck a reference to glh_init_extension() compiled without errors if the proper call is glh_init_extensions(). Does that function (without the "s") exist too?

latransa pera added a comment - 03/Nov/08 01:56 PM
@Maggie, yes both exist; in fact, glh_init_extensions() calls glh_init_extension() internally, viz. libraries/include/GL/glh_extensions.h

Maggie Darwin added a comment - 03/Nov/08 02:26 PM
@latransa-- That sort of thing makes me happy I'm a Java developer...

Danny Nolan added a comment - 09/Nov/08 10:13 AM
This is a quick fix for me. Disable Palletized Textures, Rebake, Go into appearance, edit pants, use the slider to make them really short, then just put them back to the normal length. Removed the skin flaps. But, ultimately, we need an actual fix for this .

Lina Pussycat added a comment - 10/Nov/08 05:13 AM
To note here the stuff that is black is likely caused by hardware skinning if disabling palletized textures does not fix it. Some graphics cards improperly support it so just shut it off if it continues...

Issue seems to be fixed so far with the 1.22 beta release out now. Have to rebake some clothing first though.

Maghnus Balogh added a comment - 21/Nov/08 10:09 AM - edited
I can confirm I'm no longer seeing this on Second Life 1.22.0 (103519) Nov 20 2008 15:37:22 (Second Life Release Candidate). Nice job.

Edit: After a while I've noticed a few offending pecies of clothing still initially rez with the wrong shape, the the texture is fixed. Adjusting the camera, going into Edit Appearance and clicking on the clothing article type, or just rebaking all seem to correct it. I also noticed, only once so far, but the textures did get messed up on an outfit I was wearing. I was able to fix it by going into Edit Appearance, taking off the items, and putting them back on. Perhaps completely unrelated, but whenever I tried to edit a sculpty in 1.21 SL would crash silently. That also seems cured.

I've been using the nightly viewer on my pc to see whether I still had texture problems with my shoe bases..I've tried this viewer on my two pc's one with a 5900 nvida graphic's card the other a 6200 nvida...YAY for me so far no problems with mah legs all black..'thought I'd have to start a new trend of black tights' !...However I have noticed that while things are rezing when first logging in, all objects appear white..once fully rezzed all is good..
So for now I'll bank my money till the price of graphic cards come down

Ok I use the Release Candidate version of SL, and the option to:

"Enable the Advanced Menu (Ctrl-Alt-D)
Disable rendering of Palletized Textures (Ctrl-Alt-F7, or Advanced/Rendering/Features/Palletized Textures)
Rebake (Ctrl-Alt-R)"

Because the option "Palletized Textures" is not there D:. Is there another temporary method that can work for the Release Candidate? Please and thank you.

I can confirm this is still happening in the 1.22.4 client, I'm staring at it right now using that RC. If the "fix pending" was relying upon this being resolved in 1.22, then I'm afraid you're going to need to change this back to unresolved, because it has definitively NOT been fixed in this RC cycle thus far.

there appears be a functional resolution that I failed to notice which allows a rebake to properly resolve this issue when it appears. It still happens in the 1.22.4 RC but may be easily fixable by the user

http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/affect.html

Laila, can you confirm that you carefully rebaked several times after installing 1.22.4?

Laila Kumaki added a comment - 03/Jan/09 04:23 PM
Hm, it would seem that today after logging in my pants layer was still affected. However, one rebake resolved it; whereas last night it seemed not to respond to either rebaking nor editing appearance.

Either I was impatient last night, or the behavior is inconsistent. I'm unsure which, I'll comment again if this materializes again and I cannot reverse it. Otherwise, it would appear there may be a functional resolution, now.

I am having similar difficulty. My avatar skin has become pink. Changing skins or outfits have not affect on this issue. I am not certain as to how this can be related to my video card drivers, as other residents inworld also see me in this same way. Previously, it was just my chest and arms that was affected, but now my entire head has turned color and I am unable to change or even see any facial features. This is a very important issue as I am unable to use this avatar as I have established it throughout the community. I have not used the work around yet, as mentioned.

Maggie Darwin added a comment - 04/Jan/09 11:32 AM
I do hope this critically needed fix in 1.22 isn't delayed by further inaction on other long-standing stability problems like VWR-8841 and friends, especially since there's now a solid repro (for VWR-8841 at least).

Yes this is still on-going ... I am using the latest drivers from nvidia on Vista 64-bit (dated 12/08) for the GeForce 9600M GT/PCI/SSE2. Happens with anything past the wrists, ankles, or above the neckline for me.

This is getting very hectic and almost impossible to design clothing, now almost 4 months old as first reported.

Ok there was a new update for the client, and I've updated my drivers, rebaked, cleared cache, etc etc, and still have the same problem. This is really affecting me financially due to the fact if I can't wear the certain outfits or whatever cos of the rendering issue then I can't get the job. Hopefully this will be resolved next update cos it's getting ridiculous lol.

I would like to point out I personally haven't seen this issue as it were since 1.22.0 was released. Textures occaisionally still get scrambled if put SL in the background while baking, however a rebake fixes it without fail. Also, when textures become scrambled they do not cause the elongated pant-legs and similar deformations. Here are my specs. Maybe this will help narrow down why others are still experiencing it.

Ishkiia, you have reopened this issue as still broken for you, but you did not specify which version of the Second Life viewer you were using when you saw this bug.

Ishkiia, SykHolliday , Scojo, Tyrol, Maggie - can you please post the SL version & environment info from Help > About Second Life... ? Without this information we cannot track down the code in which you see this bug.

I am on the latest released version 1.21.6

This might help you as well....

We have 4 computers here with all different types of settings and graphics including one machine on vista and not xp. if I log in another character and look at him it shows the same things as he sees. So now I'm wondering if it is NVIDIA at all and avatar specific instead. I think they all have NVIDIA drivers however. We had friend come over to my sim and she sees the same thing. But she noticed something as well. when the avatar "Toben Toland" (son who lives with me's account) puts on a new outfit , she briefly saw it as it should have been but then changes to what we are talking about here. We have asked several that have come over to the sim if they see what we see, and they confirmed that yes they do, and some of them have never seen this on other avies.

Toben Toland is one of those avies that any and every bug that has come out he has had problems with it when I have not.

Maggie Darwin added a comment - 08/Jan/09 04:57 PM
Ramzi, I'm not having this problem on any version of 1.22.

And Dan Linden seemed to be able to repro something close to what I was seeing on VWR-8814 (which is apparently amelorated by cranking texture memory all the way back to 256m, although that circumvention has a fairly pronounced effect on viewer performance).

I would kinda like to see VWR-11434 fixed, a ray-traced picking problem that breaks llDetectedTouchFace(). A kick-butt repro if I do say so myself, but that's newly reported by me only yesterday.

I consider this particular issue – the avatar clothing bug – to be fix-pending in 1.22.

Scojo Zanzibar added a comment - 08/Jan/09 05:01 PM
Sorry I did not put my viewer version down, it is the latest File Verison 1.21.6.34051 Product Version 1.21.6.99587 on all three computers.. Nvidia Geforce 9600M on both laptops and a 8600GT on my desktop. Both laptops have 4g of mem while the desktop has 8. I did also download RC#2 in early December I believe and also had the same problem.

To add to the issue and I want to reiterate this the point is that everyone sees what you see. If you have flesh colored bell bottoms or black feet or hands... that is what the SL world sees you dressed in. If your shirt sleeves or shirt bottom are too long you end up with that color picked for the shirt as coverings for your hands, neck, legs and feet or a flesh colored band where the boundary ends to the extremities. I am still dumb-founded at how other people on SL can see this which leads me to conclude that my local viewer talks to the SL network after making or fitting clothing and the main server interprets clothing past the extremities incorrectly based on some echo it receives from my viewer and passes this information on as valid to others in world.

Rebaking the textures does not clear up the issue for me either by holding ctrl, alt and r, or by manual selecting it from the advanced menu. I also as a habit after starting SL on any of my computers to quickly run to the advanced menu and disable pal. textures, but either I am never fast enough these days or it is completely helpless, but it did work in the beginning. Just to add all caches have been cleared and programs downloaded and reinstalled.

Thanks for your attention on this matter all

SykHolliday Wirefly added a comment - 08/Jan/09 07:24 PM
Ok my only problem is, that I have outfits, and the top shirt, undershirt, and jacket layer's textures will not render and load. So I'm stuck with looking like I have a long grey sleeve top and everyone else see's the warddrobe malfunction as well. After more than several rebakes from ctrl+alt+r or straight from the advance menu, no luck in fixing this issue. Cleared cache, updated drivers, new release, nothing. I'm going to add my photo to this so others can see my issue as well.

As I mentioned this is very stressful for me as it is hurting me financially D:

SykHolliday Wirefly added a comment - 08/Jan/09 09:08 PM
I know, but the issue is it stays that way for ages no matter what. And my other items don't do this, just this and some other outfits. I didn't have a big issue with the bell bottom pant problem because for me it came and went but this, this is bothersome, and it's only happening with my top layers. I even did a test, I put the top on, and went through the entire procedure, and then I left my avi up and went to sleep. And when I awoke, the top was still the same and that was close to 9 hours later. And the same goes for the others. Rebaking doesn't fix it, cache, any of that. I explained this to Linden and I was sent here but it fit the bill of the other issues.

Marked Fix Pending per nyx linden comment

nyx linden added a comment - 09/Jan/09 06:48 AM
Resolving as Fixed, as all continued reported problems are from users who are still running the 1.21 release.

If you are still seeing this bug, please download the "Release Candidate" viewer at http://secondlife.com/support/downloads.php. You can find release candidate viewers at the bottom left of the page under "Test Viewers". You may need to force a rebake or switch outfits after downloading to see the fix, as avatar appearance is cached.

SykHolliday Wirefly: This issue was specifically an NVIDIA-specific issue and its effects are a bit different than what you describe. Please open a new JIRA issue and include the following information:

1) the contents of the "about second life" window as you've posted above
2) The image you posted to this JIRA issue
3) A detailed description of what triggers the issue (it sounds as if it is particular outfits or pieces of clothing?)
4) Mention if you can see the texture of the affected clothing on your avatar and/or in the user interface when you go into appearance edit mode
5) If you have the chance to run second life on a different computer, if the problem reproduces there as well.
6) Start Second Life, log in, lat your avatar resolve as much as possible, force a rebake and then quit. Then grab and attach the SecondLife.log file that is generated. On windows you can find this file located at: "C:\Documents and Settings%USER%Application Data\SecondLife\logs"

This information should help us narrow down the exact cause of the problem so that we can try to reproduce and correct it. Thanks for your patience!

Thanks for the continued feedback! I'm setting this to Fix Pending at the moment, since it's not fixed in our official viewer yet (currently 1.21.6). But the fix is coming for all residents in the upcoming Viewer 1.22.

Laila Kumaki added a comment - 16/Jan/09 06:23 PM - edited
I'm sorry to say that I have once again encountered this today in the 1.22 RC, and that I have made a deliberately meticulous attempt to resolve it via editing appearance and multiple rebakes. The attempt failed, indicating that a reliable resolution is not currently in the 1.22 viewer.

The process I attempted is as follows:
I notice the issue, and
1.) Edit appearance, exit. No change
2.) Rebake, wait several minutes for a complete load. No Change
3.) repeat the rebake and wait process in entirely three update: make that eight more times. No Change.
4.) attempt to edit appearance again, exit. no change.

Obviously, that is enough effort put into resolving the problem that rebaking is clearly demonstrated not to be a reliable remedy. Hence, I am reopening this.

Please perform thorough further testing of this before issuing a "resolved" or "fix pending" status. A few instances of failure are enough to indicate a continuing problem, but a few successful tests are not enough to indicate a successful resolution.

I've been having the same issue for about 5 days now.... All of my jacket's lower textures turn pure white instead of transparent, my shoes stop being transparent.... and when I add freckles to skin it turns the skin color orange and funky. Also, Gloves make me look like I'm wearing a shirt instead of gloves and are un-editable.

I hope this gets resolved soon

P.S: This issue is still occuring and it's January 22nd. I run windows XP and the newest release candidate, no luck.

I have also been having this issue for the past couple weeks. It's a hit and miss as to what pants I can wear becasue a good majority of them have a flesh tone flare on them. I have tried all the steps suggested by various postings and aides in SL and nothing seems to work.

I can confirm this bug with Nvidia videodrivers 177.xx and upwards.

It concerns texturing of a particular avatar clothing piece:

The pants for boots (seen as underwear icon). Instead of redering it as e.g. Jeans. it renders them as brown/black wool (or any kind of syntetic fabric, it is hard to tell).

Tested on two platforms:
Winxp (32bit) CPU :Q9450 (which is still not detected properly)
Memory 3300MB (OS limit)
OS Version: Windows XP SP 3
VGA :9600GT

VIsta (64bit) :
CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (2404 MHz)
Memory: 4095 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (Build 6001)
Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Graphics Card: GeForce 8400 GS/PCI/SSE2 -VGA:8400GS

Note: Nvidia driver:175.19. Works flawlessly and renders the clothing correctly.

I am not seeing this issue with the 1.22.6 release candidate. Graphics info is GeForce GTX-260 with driver release 180.48.

Lisa Fossett added a comment - 30/Jan/09 11:11 AM
This bug returned to me with 1.22.7. I did not have it in 1.22.6. I can't comment on earlier releases as I've changed computers.

When a sleeve or pant leg is set to a looser appearance setting so that the clothing stands away from the body, it takes a double V or chevron shape and the edge ripples.

Also, the area that fills in the gap between the avatar and the clothing texture is blocky and skin textured. The appearance seems more so than with recent clients.

Posting photos.

Hi Lisa, thanks.
You are experiencing a new or different bug, since you are reporting Nvidia drivers 175.56, and this bug was about drivers above 178.13.

I think this helps de-tangle what are two separate issues:

  • the texture/flaring that was caused by incomplete support for Palletized Textures, which is this issue-- we will have this solved in the upcoming Viewer 1.22. I will return this bug to "Fix Pending"
  • However, may residents seem to still experience a "flared" pant leg or sleeve, and possibly with errant textures. This is clearly not solved. Let's now track this bug as VWR-11901. Those who experience this using viewer 1.22, please watch and vote on that issue.

Thank you again!

Rhyasa Tigerpaw added a comment - 07/Feb/09 12:36 PM
I'm having the same problem since I've formatted. The only problem? All of my friends see it on me. Thus, I doubt it's related to graphics and drivers unless we're all having the same drivers yet it's only happening to me. Could there have been something in advanced options I could have changed without knowing causing this?

Lisa Fossett added a comment - 08/Feb/09 02:25 PM
Rhyasa, I was waiting for someone more technically savvy to reply but they seem to be slow today. In my simple way of understanding it, you/your client/your computer/your graphics card, create the appearance of your avatar for SL. So, what your friends see-your distorted clothing-is coming from you. They should all be expected to see the same thing.

Now, your issue/bug/JIRA entry can be posted in two places depending on your graphics driver. If your NVIDIA driver is 178.13 or above, this is the place. If it's 175.56, it's VWR-11901.

To find your driver version in Vista, go to control panel>NVIDIA Control Panel. Click on the Help menu at the top of the screen and choose System Information. Your driver version is the "ForceWare verson". There's probably many other ways to find out, but that's where I found mine.

Once found out, please post to the appropriate VWR your system info...help stamp out this nasty bug!

Total Physical Memory 2,048.00 MB
Name NVIDIA GeForce 6200
Installed Drivers nv4_disp.dll

Yes, it's an antique! And I bought the 6200 about a month ago and had no problems until last Friday. 20090306. I noticed Windows Update had a new driver, installed it. Problems ensued.

I uninstalled the driver, NOT rollback. Rebooted. Let Windows find a driver (as listed). Logged in and cleared cache. No problems with shoes I had not worn since Friday.

Fixed messed up items as suggested by support:

Enable the Advanced Menu (Ctrl-Alt-D)
Disable rendering of Palletized Textures (Ctrl-Alt-F7, or Advanced/Rendering/Features/Palletized Textures)
Rebake (Ctrl-Alt-R)

I have rendering of Palletized Textures enabled and there seem to be no more problems.

On SL Viewer 1.22 and 1.23 Release Candidate, I still get stripes all over my avatar and colored teeth front and back of my head, even after repeated texture rebaking, cache clearing, rebooting, driver upgrading, appearance-tweaking, clothes/skin-changing, and turning off dynamic textures. Rebake fixes it for about two seconds before the problem returns.
