The new WindLight client looks lovely, but it is MUCH slower than mainline. General tests in Luskwood, at home in my skybox, and wandering around the ground in Clara show around half the frames per second as mainline, overall.

When I disable vertex shaders, the sky and water suddenly look terrible, but the framerate increases to mainline client levels; this may be a place to start looking for the bottleneck.

A 10% reduction in performance can be acceptable in exchange for a nicer visual experience.. But 50% reduction in framerate? This needs fixing, badly. And this is on a fast workstation with a relatively high end video card!
