Second Life's Search Function is once again returning partial results. This is NOT the intended behavior of search and once again renders search a useless tool in locating precisely what you are after.

18. Has searching been fixed so that it no longer searches for partial words?

Yes. The old search used to return results like "constable" if you entered "table." That no longer happens.
===================================================================================

A search for "toes" pulls up myriad results. A search for "table" likewise returns myriad results as a result of this unwanted behavior.

Table will return results for tintable over and over again. Careful examination of the listing reveals that "table" in and of itself is not included in the listing at all.

Results for the word "stool" reveals many results in which keywords are run together without spaces or commas. In this manner any word ending with the letter "S" placed before the word "tools" brings up improper results.

Here are examples using "pear" which will bring up spear or pearl or disappear or appearance -

bridges, waves, sculpted waves, coconut beach bar, hammock, hammocks, lover's pearl

features a radio tuner, rezzable objects, new appearance options and preset styles

Limited testing on the word 'pear' shows Places tab to work as intended (or omitting results that I would have no idea should be there), All to appear to work correctly except for false results in the Classifieds column (example 'Native Spirits' showing in the classifieds column on the right when it mentions 'spear' twice but not 'pear' at all), and Classifieds tab to have all sorts of garbage results if you just want 'pear' or 'pears' to show up (you get spear, pearls, etc showing as well).

Definitely voting for this to be fixed, just helping define where the 'break' is more closely....

Char

Char is correct. This still brings up results that should not appear on the ALL tab since classifieds are also listed there to the right and is unfair to classified customers that genuinely paid for a hit on that keyword.

Classifieds being wrong was already reported in VWR-8371, I cannot reproduce this except for Classifieds.

I've run into similar problems as Charlene describes – this can be very fustrating. Have seen it when trying to search partial words, Seems to me this is part of a larger problem with the search function. I would recommend adding the use of wildcard characters to resolve this.
