I would advise anyone who is experiencing NVidia issues to check they have the latest drivers. There are still quirks (such as pauses) but I do not crash since I updated my drivers to 175.
i downloaded the 1.20 viewer and about 20min later i was up in my helicopter and i got a message saying "a problem with your video hardware has caused windows to stop working correctly" and sl crashed,i never had this occur with the 1.19.4
i have also made an alternate avy and when i checked that one the avy walking was very jerky. my computer specs are intel 2 core series processor (2161MZh) memory 4094 MB windows vista service pack 1 (build 6001) graphic card GeForce 8600 GS/PCI/SSE2 open GL version 2.1.2 hope this helps Updating drivers definitely helps and setting graphics to Mid instead of the recommended High.
I haven't crashed or had freezes since the early 1.20 RCs and I am not seeing either on the nightly build 1.21.1. I do think there are issues with overheating with the 8600 card in laptops which can be monitored using Nvidia system monitor http://www.nvidia.com/object/system_monitor.html Second Life 1.21.0 (93713) Aug 5 2008 14:14:14 (Second Life Public Nightly) You are at 262004.5, 258455.7, 22.4 in Longfellow located at sim3501.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.21.236:13000) CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (1995 MHz) libcurl Version: libcurl/7.16.4 OpenSSL/0.9.7c zlib/1.2.3

This issue was resolved as "Needs More Info" during a batch clean-up of PJIRA issues.
Reason: for an extended length of time, this bug seems to be missing enough details (reproducible steps) for Linden Lab to import the bug and investigate. Also the last affected version of the viewer on this report is viewer 1.21 or 1.20, 1.19, or even earlier, which are versions that are no longer actively supported. It is possible that this bug is indeed valid and should remain open-- however, Linden Lab needs the following pieces of information before it is Reopened: To reopen, please do all of the following: (1) It is very important to confirm that this bug still occurs in the latest official version 1.23. Please upgrade to that version by browsing to http://get.secondlife.com (2) If so, then please Reopen this issue and BE SURE to choose the "Affects Version/s" = 1.23 (3) Also, re-describe the steps that another person can follow to experience this bug. An example of a good "recipe" for a bug report can be found here: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Issue_tracker#Guidelines_for_a_bug_report (4) Come and attend the inworld bug triages, where you can meet with Linden Lab employees to consider, verify, and expedite bugs for fixing. For more information, see http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Bug_triage Thank you for helping us improve Second Life!
