Still not getting better on Mac !!!
Even older issues came back, so the RC14 kills my whole Unix system, freeses up my whole Mac, so I only can do a hard reset ...

Pls stop getting out more and more advanced graphic things, we can't use, and pls, do something about the crashes, (cycling) freeses and PERFORMANCE.

Also Mac users want to be able to set the draw distance to 512 m als their Windows contraparts are able to do since ages.

OpenGL Profiler is really no use, since it disables all advanced Graphic Settings, so one can better use the 1.18 viewer !!!

And omg, the RC 14 viewer, well, nothing new on the Mac side of the universe : still abedominal low and quircky and jerky and ... not usable at all ... on any Mac.

LL is hiding after the so sayed Nvidia 8600M GT card, who has defective driver, but sl on Macs , and I mean ALL Macs is far under performance of the windows counterpart.

We really need some one at LL who takes this seriously, and solves it for once and forall, after all, its almost a year now, this is a MAJOR issue on any Mac ?

And yes, its well described by the users, poor performance, freeses, cycling, system crashes ... NO other Mac program behaives that bad as the LL sl Mac viewers do.

It's only a pitty Onrez is not developping more his viewer to mach the new technologies ;-((

I also tested out the Preview Sim, running the latest Server version, no noticeble change to the havoc 1 sims at all, so I'm very sure its the sl viewer for Mac that sucks really bad.

Thanks for the meta issue, Dolfke. For clarity I renamed the summary slightly (was: RC14 on Mac hardware).
Let's link the more specific reported issues about problems on Macs to this one.

thanks Ramzi, now I surely hope (or wished ?) that LL takes this seriously, and does something on the performance, stability and memory leaks on his recent Mac sl viewers ?

afer all, its an issue almost for a year now, and it's surely ;-(( not improving among the RC versions, nor the official sl viewer, 1.19.1.4

only the older Second Life 1.19.0.5.app is somehow usefully on Mac hardware, but it's completely outdated, and can't match the beautifull graphics found on the Windows contraparts viewers, using Windlight and Dazzle.

I see the issue is still unassigned by LL ?

Here are some observations from the past few days since 1.20.14 was released: severe time dilation; recurring spikes in network activity (even in an empty sim with nothing going on); rubber banding of my avatar when walking/flying; delayed or no response when trying to walk/fly; chat delay of up to two minutes; double teleporting; ghost avatars that never materialize; increased crashing. None of these things were happening with 1.20.13 – everything was nearly perfect then. I'm wracking my brain to figure out what could have changed, but am coming up empty and lost...

Help!

MacBook Pro: Distorted video or no video issues

  • Last Modified: October 10, 2008
  • Article: TS2377

Symptoms

In July 2008, NVIDIA publicly acknowledged a higher than normal failure rate for some of their graphics processors due to a packaging defect. At that same time, NVIDIA assured Apple that Mac computers with these graphics processors were not affected. However, after an Apple-led investigation, Apple has determined that some MacBook Pro computers with the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processor may be affected. If the NVIDIA graphics processor in your MacBook Pro has failed, or fails within two years of the original date of purchase, a repair will be done free of charge, even if your MacBook Pro is out of warranty.

Lowering, there is no reason for a meta issue to be a showstopper. Put the related issues at the correct priority for each of them since this is just here to categorize them.
