A very rough sketch of what I'm picturing for this floater.
The dots indicate attachment points; green is filled, white is empty. If you mouse over one of the dots, it would pop up a tool-tip with the name of the attachment point (e.g. "Left Hand") and name of the object attached there. If you right click a dot, it would have a menu, with items like "Detach" and "Show in Inventory".
You can drag an object from your inventory onto a dot to attach it there, or drag it into the "Auto-wear" box to wear it on the default attachment point (equivalent to right clicking and selecting "Wear").
