Does this happen for you with viewer 1.19.1.4 ? Does it happen everytime you log on with RC11?

Have you tried the suggestions in this article, which can help check that you are properly connected to SL ?

Thank you Ikonn for the dxdiag file.

When SL freezes, do you get the error message "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Your issue could be related to VWR-6733. There are a number of suggestions in that issue; please see Periapse Linden comments here - 25/Jun/08 02:26 PM & 26/Jun/08 11:24 AM

Are your graphics drivers the correct version for your system (there are a number of English releases) ? Are you card(s) overheating? Have you considered updating your system to Vista SP1 ?

Are you running two monitors? Please see this Knowledge Base article

Knowledge Base > Second Life Info > Second Life Software Questions > Second Life and multiple monitors Topic #: 4051-3982
http://secondlife.com/support/?questionID=3982

There are lots of possible causes; please try the above suggestions and add your comments to this issue.

Thank you

1. No I do not get that error message "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

2. I do not believe that is the problem - no flickering- no error - no black screen- processor just stops processing and hard locks the PC ...

3. I updated the drivers ...... card is not over heating and I am running SP1
Do you recommend a driver version that we should use?

4 yes I do have 2 monitors but I do not have any of those issues reported in Topic #: 4051-3982

Thank you!

Tiberious, ATI Catalyst Control Centre is up to version 8.6

You can check you have the latest graphics drivers by either going to your manufacturer's site or by checking here
Knowledge Base > Second Life Info > Solution Finder > Technical Issue > How do I get the latest drivers for my graphics card? Topic #: 4051-3884
http://secondlife.com/support/?questionID=3884

Also XP has been updated to SP3

Please consider updating your system and then attach a SecondLife log and crash report to this issue.

Knowledge Base > Second Life Info > Solution Finder > Technical Issue > Where do I find my Second Life diagnostic logs? Topic #: 4051-4209

If this is an ongoing issue, as you have a different system and graphics card to the OP, it might be worth opening a separate issue.

Thank you

Ikonn, thank you for your feedback

Could you please attach the latest SecondLife log and crash report to this issue.

Also on the dxdiag your system is reporting the OS as Windows Vista Ultimate without the SP1 update; is the update something that you have done since you reported this issue ?
