Linden Lab Issue ID: DEV-17516

 Description  « Hide
When selecting inventory items and the cursor moves to the top or bottom of the Inventory window, the list auto-scrolls - unfortunately it scrolls at about 100-200 lines per second. This is uncontrollably fast - especially for drag-and-drop moves.

Also, the delay for folder auto-open is too short. This would not be so bad except that when the folder opens, it ends up in a different position. During a drag-and-drop move, auto-open causes the dropped item to end up in a subfolder.

Easy fixes -
Slow down auto-scroll or, at least, make it a debug variable so it can be set by the user.
Slow down auto-open of folders, AND more importantly, when an auto-open happens, make sure that the target folder stays in its original position!

and I thought I was just clumsy and all get out. thanks for pointing this out. it's the main reason my inventory is a total disaster area.

Agreed. it is a bit of a pain when it scrolls so fast. Ive taken to using two or more inventory windows and prescrolling as a workaround. But maybe something can be done.

Auto-open can be changed with the debug setting InventoryAutoOpenDelay.

Maggie Darwin added a comment - 24/Aug/08 12:24 PM
Does that require a restart? Because it seems just as fast set for 10 as 1...

its not just the auto scroll, ANY scrolling is difficult using a mouse.

I spoke to Firebird Nightfire, who had logged VWR-9853:

Firebird Nightfire: All those folders opening and closing on their own make it tough to sort stuff.
Firebird Nightfire: Pick something to move from one folder to another. Click and hold on it. Drag it to a folder. If you hold on the new folder for more than about a half second, the folder opens by itself.

Affects 1.21.6.99587

@Harleen--

I think InventoryAutoOpenDelay is broken. And apparently I'm not alone.
