I think it might be enough to have it always sorted by time (last visited top) and to indcate how many visits behind it.
This is an example of a base function that I would have expected to be sorted a long time ago. We shouldn't have to rely on 3rd party tools to do this job (that is, if the attachment works reliably in all areas, plus we remember to re-wear the hud on every single outfit change).
if SL is an enhancement to the web) then it needs that oh so basic browser function "Go Back"
Not sure inventory floater is the best place for this.
I have removed this bug from patronage due to lack of interest. (Only raised 200L in 6 months).
Make it like firefox or IE or any other browser. The static information about the current location should go to the title bar (where it says "Second Life"). Then make the black address bar into a field where you can type region names, type and drop down recent teleport locations and matching landmarks. Landmarks should be able to be accessed by their name, not just the address. A back and forward button is much needed, with drop down lists for recent addresses. And a home button - thats really sweet. The SL client is a browser after all so it should like one. I like the onrez design (except the colors and font) because it looks so familiar to anyone browsing the web.
This has been resolved in last releases in a different way: when you teleport, SLURL of former location gets written in the Chat History so you can click it and teleport back.
I think the issue could be closed. Teleport history has been a commonly-requested feature in the Viewer. Rather than integrate it with the Inventory, a navigation panel will be used which will introduce a back and forwards button, teleport history, and address bar.
Should this be marked as fix pending? Or are you not that far along?
This patch adds a "Teleport History" menu item under "View". Checking this menu item opens a floater with all locations you've been to in this session, allowing you to teleport back to the place, show it on the map or copy the SLURL to clipboard. Comments are welcome.
We already have this in the chat history.
What I'd like to see would be the ability to right-click on a URL and make it into a landmark, close teh loop that way. The chat history version is in my opinion nothing more than a hack to give the residents at least something. A floater is always available, you don't have to search for the places manually (and have the chat constantly jumping back when new text is appended) and often the region names are littered with HTTP escapes.
I don't know how to create new landmarks (or if it is at all possible without being at the location), but this would certainly be a nice thing to have. I'll look into it. I think an alternate version of this feature may actually be published in the vectorform branch here:
http://svn.secondlife.com/trac/linden/browser/branches/vectorform However, I don't know that for sure. I'll ask around about this later. You're correct, Rob. There is an alternate version of this teleport history feature in the Vectorform branch. You can find specs and more info here:
http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7900 There should be a final design spec posted there too. I like it and included it in the Cool SL Viewer... yet, the patch got a couple of glitches (missing casts that make gcc v4.1 to issue warnings, and a problem under Windoze because of the lack of a precompiledheaders.h include).
Attaching a fixed patch for v1.21.6.0. This functionality will probably come with the Vectorform changes - if this hasn't happened in the next quarter or so, let's revisit this patch
