The html search had some good potential, sure it was a bit buggy, but new stuff usually is. The old places search is very easily abused. Please bring the new search back. I think searching by relevance is much better than searching by traffic. With the old search, those that pay the most money out to bots get higher traffic, and those that don't have any bots, but have quality items, such as a mall that doesn't run events every day, suffer with low traffic. I think the people who really hated the new search were the people who sell the bot attracting camping devices, cause they'd lose out on sales.

Thanks for reporting this! As Jeska Linden has blogged on http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/04/28/second-life-showcase-popular-places-and-the-future-of-traffic/ , the Search team does indeed intend to move more and more of Search tabs to the html interface.

The html version of Search > Places that appeared in 1.20(7) and 1.20(8) was perhaps released without all the features it could have, and was released too quickly to gain exactly that kind of feedback from Residents. For this reason we decided not to publish it this way in the official 1.20 viewer... But it still remains on the Search roadmap for future release, with just a little more time to fine tune it.
