 Description  « Hide
In 1.20.8 (or any client after 1.18.5.3) sim crossings either fail or take longer than they should 90% of the time.
The avatar will fly uncontrollable for between 10-30 seconds. 25% of these will result in a being logged out of seconds life.

This happened with a ATI 1900XT and now with a Nvidia 8800GT

This problem doesn't happen on the same hardware while running the PC client via Bootcamp, Sim crossings are almost unnoticeable in XP.

iMac spring 08, with 4 gigs, Nvidia 8800m GS...

I'm on DHCP, ATT/Yahoo with a 2701 HG-B (most frustrating router I've ever worked with).

I was able to work around this issue by entering the DNS IP's directly into OSX networking, DHCP. It has virtually stopped launch crashes, sim crossing crashes, and a slew of other issues that rendered the Windlight Mac versions unusable.

There are a handful of other problems (already in JIRA) I've noted in the Mac viewers that this doesn't solve - but this is progress, somewhat...

Anyhow, try manually entering your DNS IP's in OSX if you're using DHCP and see if you can't at least cross sims and stay logged in with the current viewer... hope it works for you!

Thanks for the work around Cobb, It worked great
Seems like a fix that would be simple for LL to work out why it was happening and fix it easy.

This seems to be connected to DHCP, and DNS. I found another comment regarding it. If you manually add your host DNS IP addresses into the network config, this issue goes away. No more logouts, no more missing groups. So it appears Mac OS handles DNS queries differently than windows. and fails to pass name resolution to the SL client. Give this a try. "Worked for me"
