Description

« Hide

OBSERVED: "There has been an error while fetching land buying information.DNS could not resolve the host name. Please verify that you can connect to the www.secondlife.com....etc"

Right click land and select buy land - same
world menu - buy land - same
click land name in menu bar to bring up land properties then click the buy land button - same.
bring up land properties and click buy for group - same
right click land - select about land - click buy land - same

Cannot get info to buy land.. buy window directs you to website. Tested with normal client and it is fine.

Hovertip shows L$? as the price of land for sale.

Garth...can you give us your system info. My guess is you are on a Mac running in full screen mode. If so this is due to the fact that the in world browser does not work under those conditions. This issue has been open for some time as ~~VWR-6000~~

I checked to see if I could access the buy land info and got the same error in full screen mode, just as I expected. However, I then logged in using window mode and still couldn't access it. So while it is clearly related to the functionality of the inworld browser this one seems an even bigger problem. I also notice Garth is on windows XP.

Sorry.. bad guess. I don't know where to start with Mac environment and GUI.

Sony Vaio Laptop SZ330. Running Windows XP Pro SP2. Nvidia go7400. 2gb ram. Tried Pituca's Toshiba laptop with Windows XP Pro SP2 and RC client. Same results as my laptop. Unable to buy

Very PC and Windows environment. Tried Normal client, RealXtend client, OnRez client... only this RC give the problem. Also tried on Linux (OpenSUSE 10.3) with normal Client on a desktop PC.

Garth, it could be related to the Known Issue posted on the Blog

IMPORTANT: Known Issues with (RC7):
In RC7, the Hover Tips on objects inworld show a single garbage character for the 'For Sale:' Amount. This will be fixed in an upcoming version of the Release Candidate. This means objects may "appear" to indicate in the hover tip as if they are for sale at L$0 to L$9, or even nonsensically as L$d or L$g. In reality the object could be any price- so please verify an object's price when paying, regardless of its Hover Tip.

That is very possible. But residents need to be able to sell their land if they need...

Is Linden lab going to pay their tiers for them so that they don't lose the land if they can't afford to pay tier and the client wont let them SELL THEIR LAND?

The client needs to work.

I'm curious if this is working for anyone. I can't get the info on the Mac either in wndow or full screen mode. Gart has tried two XP systems. Is anyone out there actually able to access the buy land info with this client. If you can let us know here please.

Thanks for reporting this Garth. As mentioned in comments, we were aware of the nonsensical character that appears in a Hover Tip. This is already fixed and being tested for a future version of the RC. However, your inability to Buy Land is an unforseen behavior... we will investigate.

To help, could you please list the reproducible steps, to clarify which access point to buy land you are using? for example:
1. Go to a plot of land for sale.
2. From the World menu > click.... (or whatever.)

Hunted down someone using RC7 on linux and had them try...same result...DNS error. Have yet to hear from anyone who can buy land with RC7

I cant buy land either, Had no problems buying with the 1.19 client... or the previous RC client prior to the update... but now land buying fails every time on windows.... and it seems the other platforms also.

This issue seems to be fixed. I had no problem getting the buy land page to load today. Anyone else confirm?
