Go to Preferences, click the Web tab, then hover over the "Use built-in web browser" option. The resulting tooltip reads: "Use outside web browser for help, web links, etc. Not recommended if running full screen." This is the same tooltip that the "Use external web browser" option uses. In this context, it's pretty inaccurate.

I created a patch to fix this issue. It is 20080503.patch. Note that the patch contains UTF-8 texts, so you need a Unicode capable tools to apply it. The patch is against 1.20 RC5. The paths in the patch are relative to linden/indra/newview directory (i.e., starting with skins directory.)

The patch contains the following changes:

Updated English (en-us) and Japanese (ja) XUI files so that an appropriate tooltip text appears on the second choice.
Updated German (de) and Korean (ko) XUI files so that the existing tooltips appear only on the first choice, and no-false tooltip texts appear on the second choice, although the new tooltip text is not very good. (I'm not eligible to write a good German/Korean text...)
Other translations, i.e., Spanish (es), French (fr), Portugese (pt), and Chinese (zh) XUI files, are not touched, because they don't contain translations for the said tooltip. (It is out of my skill to add new translations for these languages...)

This should be fixed in the 1.20 Release (currently in RC6 status at the time of this comment.)

Note: the new tooltip for "Use built-in web browser" is not yet localized and therefore behaves by reverting to the English source tooltip. We will wait until our next round of translation update before we can publish this in German, Japanese and Korean localizations.
