Marv, I can't see that video (in QuickTime and Media Player Classic). I've heard of something perhaps similar, involving invisiprims appearing as white.

If this is the use of the actual InvisiPrim script, I think using 3rd party techniques should be avoided period and creating the ability to make the character mesh invisible through easy to access SL interface options if at all possible in the open source.

Invisible prims use a small part of a system texture to make them invisble. The the UV offsets are adjust so the prim will become visible. and the repeats are set to zero. In the First look client it will be white while in the main grid it will take on the color that is applied to the prims. If you look at the property of this texture it is not an Alpha texture. By any chance have you adjusted the UV offset on this prim(s)?
