I'm not seeing this on my lashes. This still a problem?
Ok tested on a 1-20-15 client with a radeon 3800 and the latest drivers 8.7 - multiple graphics settings from low to Ultra , checked and rebaked several skins from Canimal, Pixel Deep , RAC , Second Skin, and library skins plus a few freebie skins for good measure.
And all seems well , at least on the latest code with my setup. Regards Kirsten Still a problem with me.. even contacted a Skin maker to see if the issue was with thier skin or not.. stragely, it only affects ONE line of thier skins that I have (Soft Touch Skins - Jane Line).
If you look closely you can actually see the problem is the alpha on the eyelashes at the top is causing some odd colorations. I've got pictures similar to the one above already posted, and like them.. Rebaking fixes it for a few moments, then suddenly my clothes and avatar 'refresh' thier textures (no clue what causes that myself) and the lines are back I've tried moving the eyelash length to the smallest setting, but that only minimizes the problem it still exists as we cannot completely remove eyelashes it seems. PC wise.. using XP, Second Life Latest version 1.20.15, (also tried onrez's newest version based on 1.19 and had same problem). Ohh and using Nvidia drivers (6.14.11.7519) Please fix Same problems here too... No matter if it is the Windows or Linux slviewer from Version 1.19.xx and above.
For some reasons the textures rebake and the eyelashes have no alpha! Graphics card is an ATI Radeon x850 Pro. I don't think it's a hardware specific problem, because by rebaking or in the Edit Appearance mode, everything shows up ok. ATI released the Catalyst 8.9 today, please test to see if the updated drivers resolves your issue.
Thank you I'm having this same issue too, w/ only a few skins, I would post a pic, but the ones above, show the same issue.
Making eyelashes on shape in Appearance, Shape, Eyelash Length to 0, doesn't help. Using Nvidia and the latest RC. Any suggestion? I tried this,
Advanced Menu> Rendering>Features>and uncheck Palletized Textures and the white eye lash issue went away. If it pops up, I do rebake and it holds. But I have to readd the setting, when I login again. Tried Foehn Breed's fix... It didn't work for me.. after about 10 seconds, the issue appeared again.. rebaked.. issue gone... then about 20 seconds later it was back.
Thanks but not a fix for my skins. Weird, it works for me, but I do have to re add the setting when I login, do appearance, rebake, rez and it holds.
I cleared cache to try this suggestion, I know we hear that all too often, did you try that and then unchecking that setting? start w/ a fresh loading inventory? And then rebaking? I see this too under XP using a Nvidia card.
It happens only with some skins... rebaking (or Foehn's suggestion) doesn't solve it. Note that others see the wrong lashes too, not just me. I tried 1.19, 1.20 and the 1.21-4 RC clients, they all have the problem. I think I'm getting a related issue that effects pants, socks and gloves. Some pants have grown extra length when worn, one set goes white. The turning off palletised textures and rebaking helps a little. I've seen other postings on the forum that mention both eyebrows and pants and recent problems with rendering them.
Getting this issue after the recent forced update. Foehn's 'fix' does seem to work for me, however that's not a perfect solution. The fix allows me to see it correctly but others are still asking what I've done to my eyes. Setting Eyelash Length to 0 does not make it go away. There is still a halo of white surrounding my eyes. I tried several respected vendors of skins and all tried so far are affected. Though I did note on an older NST Hybrid skin, it wasnt' a white halo but a 'skin' coloured halo (unfortunately surrounded by black liner so it still stands out like sore thumb). Noticed someone previous mentioned Nvidia and that is also my graphic card though the initial poster has Radeon so...
CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (2720 MHz) I found the fix I mentioned from the http://forums.secondlife.com/
It seem to help people w/ clothes issues. So I thought to try it for skins and it worked. Except for the having to redo every time I re-login. I don't notice the halo effect at all though, I don't see it, nor do others. I do use flexy eye lashes that are kind of heavy, I have run into this issue with several skins by Naela Carter. I asked her about the problem and she mentioned that some other customers have been asking her about it too. I showed her the problem I had with her Zara skin. My skin and her demo skin both did the same thing. My problem is not only the lashes but the whole head is lighter than the body and does not look like the same head texture anymore - like only the head was replaced with an unmatching texture and the body is normal. Naela saw the problem when I wore the skin - and she wore it and neither of us saw the problem. I tried a different shape - several, actually - that worked fine for Naela but would not when I tried them (she gave them to me to try out). She also gave me several other demos to try and some of them were affected, others were not. Neither of us could figure out what the problem was. This was a couple weeks ago - but the problem has been going on for a couple months. I have
fixed" the problem by not wearing that particular skin - but being that I paid an arm and a leg for it and it is my favorite one I am not very satisfied with this solution. I'd like to see a fix. By the way, this problem has been unchanged through the last three release candidates and about a dozen different video card drivers from nVidia. This issue is sneaking back on me, the fix I applied found on the forums, doesn't always help now.
The same thing is happening to me, both with eyelashes and clothing.
OMG I just installed the newest update 1.23 and my eyelashes are clumpy. I don't have prim lashes either. oh please please fix this asap I'm going into my room and not coming out till it's fixed. lol
OMG I just installed the new update 1.23 and my eyelashes are clumpy. I do not have prim lashes either.
I also see this issue with 1.23 RC1. It's worse on some avatars than other, but visible on everyone I've looked at so far. Lashes simply look wrong - generally much more pronounced than usual, in some cases massively so (and that's on male avatars with small lashes).
Ok.. Having this issue in the latest 1.23 RC. I never noticed it before, but this is really bad. Nothin I try seems to correct the issue. Using an ATI 3870 Vid card if that helps. The skin is an X2 purchased a few years ago. I don't have this issue in the current released client. Just 1.23 RC. Is a little hard to see from the image, but the eye lashes are a mess, and my mouth looks like I took maroon lipstick amd made a clown face.. Very odd.
the same here... just on the 1.23 RC.
I am having this problem with the 1.23 RC as well, never had it before. I have a nvidia vid card with latest drivers on XP. Not a good thing when portriats are your biz in SL. Also noted some skins are showing the base make up (just edit and turn all down) through the skin.
I can repro this issue with PN version.

This is NOT fixed in 1-23-4.
The change in rendering of skins in the 1-23 RC client, that caused numerous bug reports, led people to believe this bug was about the same thing... but it obviously can't be cause it's been around since 22/Apr/08 !!! So yeah.. old bug, fix it already will ya. I still have a dozen of skins that are useless as long as this bug is around. Can you please supply your environment (copy/paste Help>About Second Life).
this is definitely NOT fixed in 1.23.4.123908. I notice it all the time now and I haven't changed my shape since last year. I didn't have the problem last year. but 1.23.4.123908 definitely has this issue with the eyelashes.
Please supply your environment when re-opening.
Thanks My info as requested:
Second Life 1.23.4 (123908) Jun 11 2009 15:16:56 (Second Life Release) Built with MSVC version 1400 You are at 158155.2, 255007.0, 1015.3 in Marbella located at sim8012.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.37.79:13000) CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (2044 MHz) libcurl Version: libcurl/7.18.1 OpenSSL/0.9.8j zlib/1.2.3 I too am suddenly having this problem, after upgrading my Viewer. I am using multiple machines, and it is effecting them all. This is effecting me no matter what Skin that I wear, and I just bought a new one that is doing it too!.
I have attempted reverting back to prior Viewer versions and I can not open nor run SL in that case. I have tried reverting my nVidia Drivers, as I keep copies of nearly every Release they put out; have tried numerous previous versions and this does not help. I am having this problem on TWO computers! Both are running in SLI configuration with twin Video Cards, I have tried turning SLI off on both, and this does not fix the issue! I have also, I can't believe I have committed such a horrifying Sin... but, I tested with my original SL NEWBIE SKIN from when my AV was born in 2007!! I actually pulled this old skin out and put it on! I felt so horrible doing this to myself! But the eyelash problem was still there! PLEASE fix this right away! Environment Info for both is below! Machine 1 CPU: AMD Phenom x4 940 Black Edition (3656 MHz) libcurl Version: libcurl/7.16.4 OpenSSL/0.9.7c zlib/1.2.3 Machine 2 CPU: AMD Athlon64 4000 (2410 MHz) libcurl Version: libcurl/7.16.4 OpenSSL/0.9.7c zlib/1.2.3 OMG!! I think I just found a fix!!
I turned off Dynamic Textures, and hit Rebake! The problem went away and my Eyelashes look normal! However, the downside to this is, it sometimes leaves the rest of my AV textures looking all odd and fuzzy. Sometimes, going into Edit Appearance, and turning Dynamic Textures back on while in Appearance mode, then leaving Appearance, Rebaking, then turning Dynamic Textures off, and Rebaking again... makes the fuzziness go away, and all is normal. I also, however, have to repeat the above process every time I change my Eyes, or some other aspect of me AV. |
