System skirt textures turn invisible on wearing

For the past two months, whenever I put on certain outfits, the skirt will "vanish" the minute I put it on, resulting in my avatar not wearing anything under sheer flexible skirts. I've looked at all I can think of so far, and nothing seems to make it stop.
All I do is select to wear it in my inventory. There's no way I could mess that up, it's a simple click for pete's sake.
I'm writing it off as a bug. It's happened on two different computers.
