im reporting the same issue. Clicking on forward arrow my Av starts to run.
I have this problem also, using nvidia 2400 pro and XP
Does CTRL-R have any effect in toggling this?
Also - does this always happen, 100%?

(from http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6232 The current behaviour isn't tap-tap-hold which to me implies that it's the time between key presses that counts while it's actually the time between the first release and the second tap that's used. Find a flat sim and start walking forward across the whole sim, after 10-30-60-whatever seconds release the forward key and press it again. You'll be running. The time-out should be (second tap - first tap) < time-out and not the current (second tap - first release) < time-out. Added clarification in description to make this bug explicitly about incorrect implementation of the feature.
SOLID REPRO:
The behavior described by Gellan is by design, so an avatar can go from walking to running without stopping. I'm listening to any arguments for this being wrong though.
the feature is desirable but it needs to be customizable for users habits.
i.e. i find that i always lift my finger off walk and then repress to continue walking mainly due to my habit of stop start walking. i do not desire the run command to kick in just because i lifted my finger off the key then repressed it again. if the time was adjustable then the feature would work much better much like the adjustable double click rate in windows. this is metaphorically speaking the exact same feature. i think that the "double press to run" feature is quite handy but it definitely needs to be adjustable. to further clarify my habit of stop start walking. when there is network lag it is not desirable to keep holding the walk key as you may end up over the edge of the platform your on. so to counteract network lag the start stop behavior is needed this obviously means that the new run feature is implemented to often. I second norgan in the belief that the stop-start movement to make corrections and avoid going over edges or plowing down people in laggy environments is more useful than fluidly going from walk to run. Additionally, the time for doing a deliberate double-tap is only marginally longer than for a release-repress, so I'd think that the inertia while "braking" will visually carry the avatar through a double-tap just as well as through a release-repress.
Also, the double-tap-for-speed is a convention from many games, so it makes sense to implement the feature like that, rather than some almost-but-not-quite-familiar gesture. -Not entirely sure the distinction qualifies as a "major" issue, though. This make walking in laggy sims like any RP sim a hell and CCS dargs stamina when running...
Thanks for the input. Fixed internally, expected to be released in RC3 or RC4. Trigger timing now based on key-press-key-press instead of key-release-key-press.
yes thats much better rc3 is much more usable.
